Does Cano sign for a number closer to the Yanks offer since he sees them adding complimentary pieces?
Add a bit of Pitching and they are right in the AL East discussion.
I think it pushes Cano but for a different reason. I think he assumed he could wait until the Yanks get desperate and give him what he demands. I think they are showing him that there are other places they can spend their money. I also wonder if the Fielder trade has an impact because it highlights another way the Yanks could theoretically pick up a big name talent (throwing out a name but imagine the Yanks proposed a Texas-style deal to Colorado for Tulowitzki or something similar where it's largely a contract dump). My guess is he signs with NY for around $200 million and it happens in the next couple of weeks. (Of course this is just a gut instinct, nothing to do with any reports or statements from anyone so take it for what it's worth...)
