My vote would have to go to this guy.

Had he been a great baseball player, the world would have never witnessed him in all of his magnificent glory.

Comic Book HOFer and Master Artist Frank Frazetta of illustration and sci-fi art fame was pointed out to me by a friend.

While it wasn't so much a question of "good enough," and more so of interests, he was considered a highly rated prospect and received a contract offer from the NY Giants, but didn't want the lifestyle.

Hard to group this guy here but his career stats aren't very stellar.

Ryan Spilborghs is now retired and works for Root Sports. I can't wait to see him during Rockies games this year.

The movie "Painting With Fire" is great for his hyperbolic descriptions of his baseball abilities. But his painting was pretty good, too.

Mario Cuomo got a bigger signing bonus than Mickey Mantle. He went on to some notoriety, if not universal acclaim.

And probably my favorite baseball-related quote ever:
When I was a small boy in Kansas, a friend of mine and I went fishing and as we sat there in the warmth of the summer afternoon on a river bank, we talked about what we wanted to do when we grew up. I told him that I wanted to be a real major league baseball player, a genuine professional like Honus Wagner. My friend said that he’d like to be President of the United States. Neither of us got our wish.” -President Dwight D. Eisenhower
