Because of the nice Ernie banks card last night I will post some of my Ernie banks patch cards!

also posting some ozzie smith Padres patch cards. I absolutely love ozzie smith Padres patch cards, they rank up their with Nolan Ryan mets cards. I always try and go after ozzie Padres cards

Jesus , I watched that too and thought it was nuts too. That Gehrig Patch went high IMO also based on the set it was from.

considering that the gehrig and musial sold for the same money....I would have every gehrig patch before I even touched the musial

Sometimes people pay more for the card than the piece that's in it. Those low numbered FOTG cards are still really popular and add to the fact that the Patch comes from one of the rarest premium parts of the jersey and you got the number it ended on.

In some regards the Bird head is close to equivalent to a plain Gehrig patch. Now imagine what a Sleeve logo of Gehrig would go for?

To compare a bit, The Gehrigs /5 from celebrity cuts sold for 760, 710 and 670

and this Premium patch of Gehrig /10 sold for 1500

http://www.ebay.com/itm/2008-Donrus...D&orig_cvip=true&rt=nc&_trksid=p2047675.l2557

So the lower numbered Gehrigs that have regular patch sold for 700-900 less than the premium patch Gehrig numbered higher (/10).

Now take musial

The Rookie patch numbered /15 sold for 200 was just a plain wool patch
The Sp game used nicknames patch numbered to /22 sold for 157
and the 2003 Leaf Limited /25 patch sold for 140

Vs The Musial FOTG Bird Head patch (Ultra rare!) numbered /6 selling for 635

Now obviously Gehrig patches are rarer which is why regular Gehrig patches will always outsell regular Musial patch and so on but looking at it from a rarity standpoint of each respective jersey pieces and the Musial Bird head patch price is not that insane, lol.

No I did not win the Musial as I already have one :)

I agree with everything you said, however I will still take the Gehrigs everytime!

Just to add...if the gehrig patch was a prime cuts or timeless treasures it would have went for 1500. Logos from those products would have been crazy. To me buying a gehrig under 1000 is just a absolute steal even if they are celebrity cuts

Here is a picture of my gehrig logo patch. The patch is from the sleeve of a 1938 yankee road jersey and the sleeve patch is a centennial celebration patch. Pretty dang cool stuff!

Ha ha, Nice man. Yes that is awesome im just not into the celebrity picture cards. With Gehrig premium patches super rare cant really be that picky if you want one.

I also had a lot more 08 sterling patches but choose to stay with these ones.

In 08 Sterling decided to do puzzle effect patches as kind of a way to make chasing them more fun but they dint promote it very well and I don't know how many people really knew about it. I read an article about it here : http://www.sportscollectorsdaily.com/topps-sterling-preview/

I have 1 completed.

That Grimes is absolutely nasty! I have basically the same Honus in my bucket, one of my absolute favorite PC cards. Love your collection man!
