Wow , you think that much ? Man that seems crazy unless it looked as cool as the Musial booklet we've discussed etc. If it was just parts of the letters , you really see that much ?

Ryan

i guess 7k is too much ha. Just getting a little carried away ;)

the last couple 2005 sweet spot classic mantle jumbos from a away jersey have sold around 5k. That's likely where this would end up at if there ever was a mantle made...which I doubt will happen

I agree it looks similiAr to gehrig stitching donruss used in 2004 and 2005. Agree it looks like it could be legit. I just really question it all being used in one card numbered out of /3 when the others don't have it. I'm 25/75. That is enough doubt that I didn't bid on it.

if it is real then I missed out on a great card. Fakes have reuined a lot of stuff because it is just hard to tell sometimes.

once again card companies should have databases of everything they produce with pictures. That would solve this ha

I wouldn't touch that Gehrig. It's a #/3 version - and Triple Threads didn't have any Ruth patches or anything like that in the product. Some Koufax wool stuff but that was about it - I wouldn't touch that Gehrig to be honest.

To boot, I've seen other Triple Threads cards that are 100% fake so I know this product is fakeable.

Agreed on keeping price stuff in PMs, I know someone in this thread would love to bid me up on some stuff ;)

This image is from a 2008 auction , on the side with Biscuit Pants , there seems to be some stitching to thin to match this.

The other images I saw the stitching was pinkish or brownish so it wouldn't of come from those.

There were also dimaggio patches in 2011 triple threads as I have 3

I agree as I said I had a chance to bid and had the money but had too many questions.

Think it sold for 4200 tbough

You guys really have some amazing collections and i'm thankful you're all sharing them! This is my favorite thread to check out during the day!

I love showing my cards, but more importantly I just love discussing the hobby and cards with other people that understand and appreciate it :)

So your call based on picture is fake?

Only basing it on that pic. Could be another pair it came from. But that area on the card where the stitching is really thin doesn't match to the auction pic I posted. But that's just my reasoning. Maybe something happened and some of the thread came loose ?

The guy who I know as a good hobby guy saw it pulled back in 2011 and was trying to acquire it ever since. Take that for what its worth but the guy is a very solid trustworthy guy

here is what he said

^^ It was pulled by a local guy back in 2011 when the prodcut released. #3 /3 has the stitching that spells out the rest of his last name. I haven't seen the #1 /3 so I don't know what it has on it.

If my eyes saw it get pulled I would try lime crazy to get the card. But since my eyes have only seen a plain 1/1 and a plain /3 I can't bid.

If your friend did see it pulled I hope he gets it because he might be the only person who would know forsure it's legit.

It's too bad we have to be skeptical, cuz it is a gorgeous card if real

Interesting - it would be weird to me. Back in 2001 I could see Topps doing something like this but by 2011 I would think they'd be smart enough to save some Gehrig tag for another relic and not put all of the tag into 3 cards that are numbered out of 3. Not impossible though, would love to see the others.

I saw one of the /3 cards sell on eBay in 2011 that was just plain uniform materiAl. I also saw the 1/1 sell on eBay that was plain uniform material. Then this card showed up and fetched 4200

and yes I will post DiMaggio some point in the future :)

i will ill give you a sneak peak of a 2011 triple threads DiMaggio, aaron, and Koufax triple patch that I previsely posted. The DiMaggio patch in the card is awesome!
