Yep, with how bad the product was that they were putting out, that was their big draw, former stars on their last legs, Richie Ashburn, Duke Snider, Don Zimmer, Yogi Berra (pre coaching), Gil Hodges (pre coaching) and on and on

He held on 4 years too long. Wish we could have avoided these forgettable teams...

No cards as he only played 5 games in 2000 with them, but my guy, Gary Gaetti finished his career with the Red Sox.

Great thread!
So far the majority of the posts involve players who bounced around late in their careers or as coaches. But what about guys who are best known for one team but actually were rookies for another, like RN's post?

Hated these Thomas ones. And I know it's FB, but the Rice Seattle days was forgettable.

I think of Wilbur Wood as nothing but a pale hose south sider! Its hard to imagine him as anything else.

Even if players suck, it is cool to see Dodger cards (and autographs) for me.
Something similar, I saw a guy wearing a Mariner HOF shirt and it had several players. of course, up until Griffey and RJ, they had no real HOFers that spent any amount of time on the team, but if you count Gossage, Ricky Henderson, Pat Gillick (GM) & Gaylord Perry as Mariners (as they were part of the club), then you have a bunch. I feel like there may have been one other, but my mind is blanking at the moment. Ichiro will join that group later too, of course and we can talk about him in a Marlins or Yankees uni too!

Sooo many bad ones in football. Guys trying to hang on for one more year.
Johnny Unitas as a Charger.
Joe Namath as a Ram.
O.J. Simpson as a 49er.
Tony Dorsett as a Bronco.
Alan Page as a (Yuck) Bear.
Emmitt Smith as a Cardinal.
Steve Young as a Buccaneer.

How about Rollie Fingers?
In 1976, Oakland A's owner Charlie Finley set about selling off his stars. Rollie Fingers and Joe Rudi were sold to the Red Sox for about $2 million each and Vida Blue was sold to the Yankees. Fingers and Rudi went to Boston and showed up in uniform but did not play. Then commissioner Bowie Kuhn voided the sales as "not in the best interests of baseball". All three players returned to Oakland. Rudi did later play in Boston in 1981, but not well.
