I mainly have three categories of cards I collect, Albert Belle cards, Mickey Mantle cards, and rookie cards of all sports. These are my favorites of the year for each category. Yeah that is pretty sweet.

I'm always impressed when guys can track down those extremely rare cards, like 1/1's, or unique runs, or whatever. Even with deep pockets it still takes time and effort, plus connections, plus plain old know-how.

This was my top addition:

It finished the set. There are only 3 of these sleeve patches for Mariano Rivera and I have all 3 of them now. I'd put all 3 of them in my top 10 Mo's:

Money and diligence. For stuff like this it's either put up or shut up. You're most likely going to get one shot at getting it so I went hard after them. The most recent one was actually the first one I located, but It took me 4 years to pry it from the owner. It was in a video of his Mariano collection and he literally said "I'm going to the grave with this one" about the card.

This one I got on ebay. It was the most I ever paid for a Mariano. 2nd most now.

This one I saw in a box break on you tube. I actually watched people breaking Triple Threads that year trying to find the Mariano's. It worked. I got this one and the 1/1 logoman from the same guy. I also saw the 1/1 laundry tag get pulled but the owner has never responded to me about it. It's the #1 card on my want list. $200+ finders fee if someone can help me get it.

This one I picked up 5 weeks ago. 3rd most I've ever spent on a Mo. Got it (and 4 other big Mo cards) from the infamous Ricky Russo.

My favorite is the 1947 Dodgers team ball. People say our baseball cards and collectibles are "pieces of history" all the time and it's almost never really true. That ball really is a piece of history.

Plus it's super clean and nice.

Wow love these.

I think my best was the purple crusades prototype. Ended up costing more than the coveted red but totally worth it! One to go!

Lots of happy 90s player collectors with the Crusade Protos hitting the market. I got two Rusty Greers.

But this was my biggie:

Landing a 1962 Post Cereal uncut panel for my Zimmer PC was probably my favorite pickup of the year. Now to find a complete Jello Box and Bazooka Stamp Panel.

I've wanted this card since it came out and I finally landed it this year. I actually landed another about a month or so after. I have 8/25 and 9/25

This gave me all 3 of the Adam Dunn Signing Bonus plaques from 2002

This was an absolutely incredible ttm return from George Culver. He threw a no-hitter for the Reds in 1968. I sent him a letter asking if I could send a baseball and he said yes. This is my return baseball

To narrow it down to one 2016 pick-up I'd say it's this White Sox lineup card from the 8/5/14 game against the Rangers. Down 15-0 to the Rangers in the top of the 9th Inning, Robin Ventura let Adam Dunn make his MLB pitching debut (1 walk, 2 hits, 1 run, 9.00 ERA). I have it up on a wall and chuckle when I see the change moving Dunn from "DH" to "1".
