Your Beef with the Hobby or Why You Don't Care.

Another beef that this thread is making me realize I have: people who think they're way of collecting is the ONLY way to collect, and criticize others for collecting differently.

How much do you spend a year and how can you afford it??!!

I think it's funny that some people brag about no wife/kids/car payments/house payment/whatever and that they spend all their money on baseball cards like it's a GOOD thing :) That said, I give myself about $100ish a month in spending money. Sometimes it mostly goes to baseball cards...

Your Beef with the Hobby or Why You Don't Care.

I don't have a complaint AT ALL about the people who rip and flip - more cheap singles for me! I have a problem with people who choose to flip and rip and complain that they're not making a profit. Why SHOULD you be able to sell something for MORE than retail cost? It doesn't make sense.

Your Beef with the Hobby or Why You Don't Care.

I don't have a beef with the companies. Why should they change anything they're doing if people are still mindlessly purchasing all of their product? Doesn't make sense to put more time and energy in to it than they have to. I'm not saying that it's right, but it's why things are the way they...

What makes a collector a "Super Collector"?

Ha, I totally agree. Having thousands of cards is one thing, but having thousands of cards of ONE player??? Kinda creepy. What would that player think if he saw your collection??? It's almost like a 'legitimate' form of stalking. Even the best ball players aren't better people than us...

How much money do baseball card blogs bring in?

Definitely don't do it for the money. I get 200ish readers a day (a lot of times less, sometimes more), and I haven't made a penny. Too many people start hoping to make money or get free boxes, but that's not the point. I started mine as a way to justify my purchases and so I could scan...

What do you do with the 2010 Topps Attax inserts?

I give them to my son. I buy him cards all the time, but he prefers to try and eat them instead of collect them. I don't mind if he gets his mouth on Attax cards. He's nine months old.

    How much Patience??

On the somewhat rare occasions when I purchase wax, I never open a box all at once! I usually open a pack or two a day. I've got a wall in my "man cave" with all sorts of unopened wax, although most of it is junk. I put 'good' boxes front and center... it's really quite nice! The only time...

    question 1998 pinnacle

Ha, I'm jealous! This set is one of my favorites because of the packaging! Not much good inside of the cans, but you gotta love the 90s oddball issues.

    Kings Inn Show

Alright, got my cheapskate, collecting-relics-like-its-1999 haul scanned: One of those Sorianos is a Chicle back variation. I don't necessarily like any of these players (other than Cerone). My purchases are more about the card/set rather than the player.

$30 worth of $2 relics. I'll try to get them up tomorrow. Beats COMC.

    Kings Inn Show

Met Seiya real quick in the parking lot, then robbed Keith blind. Ha, not really, but got some fun cheap relics. I'll post later this weekend.

Yankees cap and nine month old son for me. Will be there less time than it take me to drive due to kids' attention spans these days :)

    Kings Inn Show

Ha, I'll be there close to 5pm, too, with my son. I'm curious to see what you're picking up (and being so secretive about!). Hopefully not something from the $2 bin :)
