2004 Donruss Timelines Recollection Autographs #1499 Bernie Williams 90/5 -- Another buyback! 1990 Donruss was one of the first packs I opened as a kid. The red design, brings back so many memories, I still recall the distinct smell of the old wax packs. Due to both nostalgia and eye appeal, Donruss has remained as my favorite of Bernie's 1990 rookie issues. The only thing that could have made this design better is if they had added the famous "Rated Rookie" logo to the empty bottom left corner.
Bernie was an infrequent signer during his playing years. Most of his autographs are numbered to /5 or less, with many 1/1s. Even more surprising, only 8 out of 158 autographed cards released through 2007 are on-card signatures. There were 8 cards in 6 different sets: 1997 Donruss Signature /400, /100; 1999 UD Retro Base, /51; 2001 EX Behind the Numbers/51; 2001 Fleer Autographics; 2003 DK Buyback/15, and this one... This is the rarest of the 6, and also technically his very first buyback rookie auto produced since it is numbered to 1/5.
On top of that, I am a sucker for these Recollection Collection cards, so couldn't pass up on the chance to own this. This will be the Bernie Williams card in my collection.

That is a sharp design! I haven't seen the 2025 Topps cards in person yet. The shine of the gold foil really comes through on your picture. I commend you chasing the Darvish flagship parallels, there are some nice ones this year.
On a personal note, I am extremely thankful for these Golden Mirror parallels, they have made collecting the base sets each year a heck of a lot easier. I've chased all the Yankee Topps gimmicks, SP and SSP variations from 2007 through 2022. It was getting really expensive (and tedious)! Seemed like Topps was putting out a Ruth, Gehrig, Mantle, and Jeter SSP in S1, S2 and Update each year. There are still a ton of variations I need from 2017-2022, but I am glad starting from 2023 it should be mostly base cards I need each year and perhaps the occasional Judge Paw Patrol insert lol.
@banjar -- Thanks, I hadn't set out to collect these, but looks like a lot of my Yankee autograph collection happens to be from the 2004 Donruss Timelines Recollection Collection set. I bet Alomar has a bunch.
@LWMM -- Yes, Bernie (and many other Yankees from that era) have ton of autograph cards made over the last 5 years. Thankfully, it has made his older autos more affordable. Cards like this are going for less money now than before, as the market has been flooded with his newer autographs and many collectors have moved on to newer players. I feel prices were much higher 10-15 years ago.
5 bucksNon-Yankees related, but I had to pickup an auto of one of the best SS to play for Cleveland. Plus, it was only $5 delivered.

Why no Jeter? what, did he think he was someone special?1996 New York Post Signed Newspaper by the 1996 Championship Team -- I bought this to be framed for my office to commemorate a big moment for me as a Yankee fan. Looking back, 1996 win was a bigger moment that subsequent years when the Yankees were expected to win. There was a newspaper dispenser by my schoolbus stop, I would take two quarters to buy one each morning after big games the next morning. I had a small collection of newspapers as a boy, so these still hold a special place. What I like most is that this paper was signed back in the 1990s in ballpoint pen. It works better with the thinner paper and and doesn't detract from the photograph like marker would. It is missing the Jeter obviously, but I have plenty of signed Jeter cards. Most importantly, it includes guys like Steve Howe who passed away in 2006. I paid about $5-6 per signature with JSA authentication seems like a good deal with the names included, I feel it would cost more in fees just to authenticate this today, not to mention the signing fees for these 32 players/coaches.

Haha, I thought the very same thing. He was just a rookie then.
Morris /50. He is deceivingly harder to get at bargain prices. Could he one day be a Hall of Famer? Get him now just in case if you are a HOF collector.

Another cheap, but interesting redemption card. If they are going to keep suckering people with these redemptions, at least bring back cool looking redemption cards and not those stupid cardboard pieces with a scratch off code.
