Grand Finale's are definately a tough find. With only 50 unnumbered sets made, many are likely collecting dust with the owners not realizing what they have. Many are listed as golds and sometimes are a steal. Not necessarily the case in this auction. Grand Finale's are a double edged sword...
Wonder if it would have went for more had it been listed correctly? Seems like enough people realized what it was to drive the price up. Nice sale, hopefully someone from the boards won it!
Will this increase the value of cards already in hand now and in the future? I know I rarely see the 2002 and 2003 Andruw Jones cards. I doubt many people are going to pay the price Topps is asking to ship Andruw Jones cards. So the cards in hand right now are likely to be the only ones on...
Autographed 1st HR ticket (Early auto, not current)
1997 Bryan Mini Uncut Sheet (Given away to kids 13 and younger at a game)
1997 Heroes of the Game Platinum magazine autographed (only one I have seen)
1995 Macon Braves photo autographed POY
2002 Just Minors Durham Bulls Mini Helmet...
I used to collect ALL cards and everything. I have now eliminated ALL game used cards and auto cards after 2001 from my lists. So I collect all base, parallels, and inserts non game used or autographed.
Even after eliminating the game used and autos, there are still a ton of cards that will...
Is that Ryne's typical auto? Looks like he just did a ton of loops with the pen. Nice looking set! Congrats!
Being that it appears most players rarely sign anything that looks like a whole signature these days, I give a lot of respect to the guys who take their time and at least give you...
Thanks for the information! This card is #1 on my want list, so I guess that is why I am slightly shocked at the Ripken and AROD sale prices. I guess I just thought they would go for more based on other cards that seem less rare. The card is not bad looking either in my opinion, not as sharp...
This is actually one of my favorite sets. I really wish they would make a set like that today.
I also have 2, one slightly different than the one already posted. ;)
Looks like it sold for $175. Seems like a really good deal to me for a card that rare of Ripken. Either way, looks like I overestimated the Ripken market.
Thanks for posting a scan, great card!!
Anyways, I realize Beckett is not always correct, but it would be kind of odd for them to make this up:
Randomly inserted in packs, this 20-card set is a parallel insert to the Pinnacle Performers Big Bang set. The striking red foil background (as averse...
With only 17 serial numbered copies made, I assume the unnumbered copies are less than that. From what I recall, the unnumbered copies were held as replacements for damaged cards. So I doubt they made another 17 assuming all of them would need replacing.
With that said, I have yet to see an...
Yeah, you are probably one of a few people to have both for their PC. While the design is nothing special, I really like how the signature pops on these!
Personally, I don't really care if you refer to it as an insert or parallel. All of the cards listed so far are highly sought after cards and are all justified to be on any top 5, 10, etc.. list.
With that said, I am assuming the OP was referring to inserts and parallels as he didn't...
The lists for these could be limitless, based on personal preferences. Either way, here is my list for the 90's
1. 1998 Donruss Crusade Red/25
2. 1997 Totally Certified Gold /30
3. 1997 Precious Metals/50
4. 1999 Bowman Chrome Gold Refractors /25
5. 1998 Pinnacle Plus Team Pinnacle Mirror /25...
Thanks for mentioning the Prism Reds. After realizing I still needed this one, I checked the Beckett Marketplace and snagged one. I don't check the beckett marketplace that often these days, so it was a nice surprise to see a seller actually had one. There were only 16 total players listed...
I used to buy most of the new Andruw Jones stuff from him once a few new products came out because he has flat rate shipping on up to 50 cards I believe. I stopped buying from him once COMC surfaced and I realized I could wait and get the cards much cheaper.
He does leave a ton on the table...
I have had similar experiences with PSA and MLB also. Within the last month I purchased an autographed magazine that was PSA authenticated. When trying to verify the authenticity online, the number did not pull anything up. Similar to BGS, I had to send a photo or scan of the item in...
