Wow. Before the start of the '10 season I had him pegged as a 4th outfielder with great legs but a horrible baserunning head. I had no idea his numbers ranked so well both offensively and defensively. Good for him.
That just made my day. I love the history of the game, I think it's what makes baseball what it is. Granted rules change, sometimes by leaps and bounds, but baseball is easily recognizable to anyone of any age( in the U.S. anyway)
I think with the advent of the ability to watch any team at any time through cable/sat tv has changed the way I think about the game. Being a Yankee fan I only got to watch a teams players when the Yanks played them, but now I can follow any big league player ALL of the time. I think it takes...
As a Yankee fan I would trade the last 23? years of Sterling for a Scully highlight or clip. I have a hard time even listening to the broadcasts anymore due to his tomfoolery.
Raw grade A talent doesn't come around often, but this man child certainly seems like he fits the mold pretty well. Over-hyped? Maybe. Destined to be a 10 year All-star? Maybe. Impressive baseball ability at every level he's entered into? Without a doubt.
After many years away from the hobby, I came back and still treat it as a hobby. Ripping wax to me is a huge thrill even if it's junk. Perhaps I should start thinking about selling some of them off or one day in the near future I will find myself on an episode of hoarders, killed by my own...
