Re: So now I do not have a Santo Auto..Ugh
While it's unfortunate that you won't be getting the card, you'll be able to get an on-card Santo for a lot cheaper in a while (not cheaper than before he was voted into the HOF, but still). I agree that the seller seems on the up and up.
Actually, it's not (card #227). Maddux was in the traded set, not Moyer.
1987 Topps really is a great set, and has been since it was released. The sheer number of them produced is staggering though. I know that I've probably busted at least 100 vending cases of it over the years, as it was...
Guess it was lost during the server move, but I had mentioned that Pujols moving teams only helps the comparisons I've held him to for most of his career: Jimmie Foxx.
I'm glad you were able to find the card, but I do wonder about that signature on there. Were there known blue ink variations for Puckett? All of the 1996 Leag Signatures I've ever seen, and all of the Century Marks I see on eBay are all black in versions.
Re: Manny Ramirez to file for re-instatement
Is there any team that would take him? He had to practically beg to get the contract he got last spring, before his second violation. Even if he is reinstated, what team wants to take on that baggage?
It was probably a fair value. Durocher is pretty easy to find, but that wasn't the obvious draw. Medwick isn't super tough, but would still cost you at least 50-75 or so as a cut (more for on-card signatures or what not). Sometimes it's better to pay a fair value for something to cross it off...
The inclusion of Wertz would make the window for 61 much shorter (he was gone 2/3 of the way through the season). The inclusion of Wilbur Wood would make me think it's more of a 61 ball as well. My best guess would be that it's some kind of spring training ball or something to that effect...
Hamilton is one of my favorite players over at a sim baseball site (http://www.imaginesports.com), but his ability to get injured when crossing the first base line makes it hard to have him on your team (the +.400 OBP makes it very easy to have him though, so it's a gamble).
Then why didn't you have it slabbed at the show once you got the grades back? Were you trying to sell them in the RCR holders, realized that no one trusts them, then decided to have them slabbed?
Secondly, it is totally your fault for not confirming details before submitting them. You are...
Please correct me if I'm wrong;
1). You got the cards RCR at a show, then took the cards home
2). Then decided you wanted to actually have them slabbed
Correct?
I would love to know how it is that crap like this can occur. At a certain point, when there are as many screwups as there have been in the QC department, some people need to be fired in order for the problem to be corrected. Hopefully that has or will be taking place sometime soon.
Never thought I'd be offering a suggestion for what Leaf should do (especially for free), but I would say an Olympics set would be nice, although I would imagine a license would be a ton. Lots of options for autographs though (past and present).
