Personally, I think it's very misleading. Now, if you know the situation, fine. But if you buy one thinking it's unique only to find out there are a bunch that are almost identical--man, that's ballistic time. -

Players whose signatures stayed nice (or got better)
A lot of the old guard really took pride in their autos; they wanted every fan that got an auto leaving with a first rate sig. Guys like Mantle, Kaline, Lou Boudreau, Gehringer, and hockey greats like Gordie Howe, Jean Beliveau, and Maurice Richard. -

Nice article! You're right about Greenberg being about the first to go when a dealer breaks a vintage set or collection. One of my interests is vintage Tigers, so I've been stoned hundreds of times on Hanks: "Got the Gehringer, got the Mickey Cochrane, the Greenberg sold right away." Good luck... -
