Braves WAR Leaders
Freddie Freeman - 5.7 WAR
Ronald Acuna - 4.5 WAR
Ozzie Albies - 3.7 WAR
Mike Foltynewicz - 3.7 WAR
*Kevin Gausman - 3.4 WAR
Ender Inciarte - 3.3 WAR
Johan Camargo - 3.3 WAR
Nick Markakis - 3.1 WAR
So, we don't have any crazy high MVP caliber (6-8 WAR) seasons among our players this year (if we got a full season out of Acuna we would) but these numbers are very indicative of how much we've improved this season. Last year we only had two players with a 3+ WAR season (Freeman & Ender) while we have eight players who have reached that mark already with 15 games left of the season.
BTW is anyone else surprised to see that Ender already has a higher WAR total than he did last year when he put up career highs in most all offensive categories (avg, OBP, slg%, OPS, runs, hits, HR, SB) including 200+ hits while he's hitting just .262 & .704 OPS this year? Well, apparently the reason for this is that last year he put up the lowest dWAR of his career (despite still winning the gold glove) & this year he's put up his 2nd best dWAR of his career.
