That's a really nice profit for you. Even at $5 a slot, that's a gross of $945 on a case that costs $592.

andrew makes PLENTY of money too, they all do, and they all should

the point is, this becomes available to a bigger group of people at the low price point of 7. He's going to need a ton of supplies and he's doing us a favor by running this. Yes, he will make money, but he should, this is a tough project.

you ahve to take into consideration paypal fees, shipping fees, and supplies.

the mods wouldn't allow the break if they thought he was looking for profit, trust me.

agreed. but he won't make much. if he makes anything it will be pennies compared to the time he puts into it.

I'm fine with him making money. I was complimenting him on it. Hell, I'll do group breaks all day long when I get a case for every case I break for a group, which is basically what he's doing here. It's a good racket.

Re: 2007 BOWMAN CHROME DRAFT PLAYER DRAFT CASE BREAK!

Say the case costs about $600 delivered. Shipping at minimum for each person is $5, most likely $10+ for people who buy 10 slots. Assuming all get sold in 10 slot bunches, thats 19 packages, each with a shipping cost of $10. So thats About 800. He also loses 3% on every payment sent by paypal. Thats $1.50 for each person who buys 10 spots, another $15. Then he has to buy boxes to ship in, probably $25+ in packaging supplies. We are nearing $850 already. I would expect the totals to be on the higher end of all my projections, because if a lot of people only buy 1-5 slots, it costs them more. Maximum profit it looks like is $100, but I would expect it close to $25 if any profit at all.

If everyone who bought in bought ten or more slots (assuring that the lowest per-slot price was paid), he'd be bringing in $945 on a $592 case. IIRC, Blowout sells cases for even less when its for a case break, so there's that too. So that's $353 before paypal, shipping and supplies. Two packages of 100 team set bags (which is all he's going to need) cost $2.50. Even if he sleeved every card he pulled, at $2 per 500 sleeves (the going rate), he's spending $8 on sleeves. Maybe three $1.25 packages of toploaders with the generous assumption that there would be 75 cards from the break worth toploading. So $14.25 for card-related expenses. Even if he had 189 different people buying in, we're talking $26 shipped for 200 bubble mailers.

$40.25 for supplies.
If 189 different people bought in, his shipping expenses would be high, but then he'd be getting $7 a slot instead of $5, so the shipping and Paypal fees are already reflected in that price. 19 people buying 10 lots each would cost maybe $6 each for shipping.

So shipping and supplies are no more than $100.

He's making a really nice profit here, even with PayPal fees. Good for him. A few hundred dollars for three or four hours of work, I'll take that!

Um, no. It doesn't cost $5 to ship 9 cards, which is what the average slot should yield (24 packs x 7 cards x 10 boxes = 1680 cards / 189 slots = 8.88 cards per slot). If you buy 10 slots, that's 90 cards, which would cost about $4 to ship at most. So if you buy 10 lots, assume about .40 per lot for shipping.

Simple, don't like the price, then do not get in. There will be enough interest in this without you.

Thanks

It costs 1.60 to ship one card with DC.

Just run one of these yourself and you'll see why he's charging $5-7 per slot. It's legit and he has every reason to.

And if you think one of these breaks only takes 3 hours of his time....

Of course there will. It's fun. And it's cheap. Misleadingly cheap, which is why you're a genius. You've got people thinking they're getting a huge bargain. You can do these every week and there will always be people there wanting in. Hell, I am considering buying 10 lots just because it's fun.

Wow didn't even read that. 3-4 hours my arse.

The break takes nearly that long. Not to mention the sorting, shipping, packing. Oh and not to mention the multiple hour long draft making sure it is run right and everyone is there. Yeah its an easy chore.

And it costs $1.90 to ship ten cards with DC. What's your point?

Thanks, but I am not the genius who came up with the idea, that is ALL THE HYPE. Ask him how the first one went and how much he made.

Ok, so let's pretend it takes 10 hours. Even with a conservative estimate of a $200 profit, you're getting $20 an hour to bust boxes. Genius.
