Is this why they put in the DH? In 1902 Pitcher Jim St. Vrain of the Chicago Orphans made an unbelievable base running blunder in a game versus Pittsburgh. The weak hitting pitcher, who normally batted right handed, decided to try batting lefty on advice from his manager. St. Vrain hit a grounder to shortstop Honus Wagner and began running hard... Down the third base line!
