If you had $10,000.00 to invest in baseball cards today, what would you buy/do with the money?

I would buy cases of 2011 Bowman Draft and sit on them and spend about a third of the ten grand on high graded vintage.

Right now is a bad time for speculation in cards.

Having said that, the guy who is right will make an absolute killing. To make money, go against the grain in a calculated manner.

Contrarian investing is how money is made at the books in Vegas and on Wall Street.

If I had 10k for cards I'd pickup a bunch of Leonard Hankerson needs, a fleer Ted Williams set, a 75 topps set, 2005 bowman chrome draft set, and set the rest aside for impulse buys at the next national.

Not saying this would be the wisest use of the money, and I'm not sure how much it would cost, but I'd like to build a red ref or red ref au set, maybe of 2011 BDP. Sure would take a while, I imagine.

I have to agree with sitting on a few hot cases. 2011 and 2010 BDPP is a good choice. Maybe a bunch of cases of Topps Museum if they do as good a job next year.

A fun experiment would be to see to what extent I could control or manipulate a certain niche or set, sort of an experiment in economics I suppose. I think every niche would be significantly affected by only $10K.

Although $10K is a lot to some, I'm know there are members here who net more than that in a couple months or less.

I would go the prospect or veteran RC route. I'd do a lot of diversifying. $10,000 would be a ton of money.

Vintage graded key RC's. Doesn't even have to be a high grade.

2005 Absolute Jumbo TOTT swatches

Those two, if I had $10K to just drop on cards (and I'd buy the '10 TTT JJ / Stras booklet 1/1)

Buy raw modern cards, sub with BGS through FCB, sell for profit, BAM.

Then take that $20K and do it again.

I would buy bargains on rookies I research by the lot. Their future carefully planned by scouts. Second I would buy wax said rookies are found in. Good research and stats on the next big thing. Then I would buy old vintage singles it the lot in vg to exc condition and sit on them.
