Overall B- C+ card. Sorta boring. GSP put on a clinic, what else is new. Was hoping for some fireworks, but it was mostly drop pops and black cats..

The Struve fight was a good one thou.

I don't think we were watching the same fights than. Howard/Alves was a good fight. Danzig/Stevenson was good while it lasted. McCorkle/Struve was a good fight (I would have tapped from that Kimura). GSP/Kos was good even though it was one sided. Kos showed a lot of heart to stay in there and trade with the way his eye was.

I found this kind of funny & I wanted to see if anyone else here noticed (or even saw) where at the end of the match St Pierre was trying to quickly hand off his water bottle so he could have his hands free as he stood next to the referee as the "decision" was read.. Pierre was holding the water bottle out for someone to hurriedly take the bottle he urgently aimed it to several people as they were walking around/by him with no taker's until Lorenzo Fertitta came passing by behind him & Pierre unkowingly hoisted the bottle in his direction (with all the commotion I know St Pierre didn't realize who he was shoving his water bottle towards :P ), but as I watched it & realized it was Lorenzo I immediately thought it was an "oops" moment for St Pierre (hey boss, come here real quick & hold my water for me).

EXACTLY! I think the Alves/Howard fight should get FOTN...I'm really impressed with how well Thiago looked (but I guess that is how he would always look if he never had to worry about being taken down/held down- kinda like with what happenned in his last fight when he fought Fitch).

I wasnt able to catch anything til right after Stevenson got put to sleep. Was busy getting kids their baths and such. So maybe I missed two decent fights, but I guess I'll never know...

Damn, I kind of figured this was this the case. Kos showed some heart to go all 5 rounds....http://mmaweekly.com/josh-koscheck-suffers-broken-orbital-bone-in-loss-to-st-pierre

Vera quit as soon as his was busted.

Herring went 3 rounds with one.

I knew it was pretty bad when they were trying to ice it between rounds and he was pushing away. Needless, to say he will be out a while. So Sammy did he earn any respect points from you? I know you will pretty much continue to hate him though. :D

When he starts showing any form of respect toward anyone and stops being an ****** all of the time, then I'll think about it.

There's one thing to talk to sell pay per views, but then there's another thing to be a complete ****** all of the time, which Koscheck seems to be. He's in Jamie Varner league.

The only thing positive that I took away from anything UFC 124 related, is that Dethrone made a pretty awesome red shirt for Koscheck. Too bad it's a Kos shirt, or I'd get it.

Brock acted like a complete ****** after UFC 100, but you have been okay with that. I think Kos showed GSP a ton of respect after the fight as well as the fans in Montreal. That was a very humbled Josh Koscheck. There was a pretty good article in Fight! Magazine about him, you should check out. He is not a bad guy...I haven't agreed with some of the things he has done during past fights, but I am not going to condemn him either. The guy comes to fight, and has a lot of freaking heart...I can get past the heel persona.

I have to disagree with the 'The guy comes to fight' comment. Maybe sometimes.

But two fights in a row he tried to fake being kneed in the face. He in fact should be condemned for that. I don't know how his teammates can look at him with a straight face after that. It seemed to me like he was looking for any way out of those fights as quickly and cheaply as possible. You can't be doing that stuff. It's why I hate Varner. Pulled the same stunt. And Kos did it twice.

Yeah, he showed a lot of courage against GSP with the broken orbital. But he kind of had to after everything he said leading up to it. Showed more guts than Penn did when GSP was destroying him. At least he didn't quit.

And I've been the first one to kill Brock for the things he's done in the past that I don't agree with. I have no problem with him getting in Mir's face right after 100. Mir deserved to be put into his place after everything he said about Brock. And I have no problem with his post fight remarks. It's not like he went all Pal Daley. Just said some stupid stuff. Not really a big deal.

The stuff with Herring I didn't like, and I killed Brock for it as well. The riding him before the fight was over. The pumping up the crowd while in dominate position. That stuff is uncalled for. But damn, it was his 3rd fight ever, and he hasn't done it since. The lasso thing after the fight, I'm fine with it. He won, celebrate.

I said the same thing about the fake knee and eye gouge. I got past it though. I enjoy watching him fight, and will continue to be a fan. Just as you will continue to enjoy watching Brock fight.

Say what you want about Koscheck but IMO hes CLEARLY the 2nd best WW in the world.
The fact that he was able to stuff almost all of GSPs takedown attempts as well as get one of his own shows that.
As does the fact that at no time was he in danger of being finished.
Even some of the scrambles were amazing to see him shrug GSP off!

He got beat by a jab! It may not look better, but its better than Serra, Hughes, Hardy, Alves, Fitch and Penn have been able to do.

Koscheck is still one of my favorites and although I didnt see his post fight interview, I have heard he was nothing but respectful towards GSP and Mtl.

I still probably put Fitch over Kos. Its a shame that they will never fight each other. I was reading an article on Sherdog that a Kos vs. Alves rematch would be a smart fight. I know Kos took the fight on short notice but he got beat pretty handily by Alves.

I think its fair at this point to use GSP as the measuring stick.
Soooooo, IMO Koscheck although not winning around did ALOT better vs GSP than Fitch did.
Fitch got battered around that cage. Koscheck got jabbed up the wazooo and was still able to stop GSP from takign him down all but once or twice IIRC!

As well, I really see no point for Koscheck to fight Fitch now.
Hes had his second crack at GSP and hes 0-2.
IMO guys at that level should ONLY be fighting to earn or get close to a title shot.
So Kos and Jon fight, Kos wins, and now Fitch cant (or shouldnt ) get a title shot at the same time knowing Kos shouldnt get one either. Whats the point?

When people ask why I CONSTANTLY root against GSP, this is the exact reason. Him losing would free up a ton of meaningful fights where as now, hes beaten everyone outside of shields that even would remotely deserve a shot. And hes done it all in the last 2 years or so.

Penn, Serra, Hughes, Koscheck, Alves, Hardy, Fitch.
Hes lost not 1 round in any of those and I think its time for him to move up and actually challenge himself.

Diaz, Shields, Fitch, Alves and Penn could all beat Koscheck at WW.

I think it's nonsense to say that Kos is the second best WW in the entire world. He isn't THAT good.

C'mon Sam don't let your dislike for him start getting you to say such ridiculous things. I know you can counter with I am a huge Kos fan....I don't deny it. However, for you to say "He isn't THAT good." Well that is just......Nevermind that's your opinion. ::facepalm::

I'm pretty sure this will never be an issue since they have both said they would never fight each other even if one of the two had the belt. The other would either move up in weight or continue to fight non title fights.

I tend to think that St. Pierre will fight Shields and then maybe Fitch once more before either requesting a move up in weight or sort of getting forced too. I do agree that St. Pierre vacating the WW belt would make the decision a lot more exciting.

I'm not saying he sucks. He obviously has talent.

I'm just saying he isn't good enough to be stated as the second best WW in the entire world.
