Re: 18 VARIOUS HOBBY BOXES: player break draft style - 17 LEFT!!

This seems fair, any other suggestions?

Erich said:
On other breaks it is the player on the left or top.

I will also take 2 more spots for a total of 5.

This seems like the easiest way, and it's fair.

The only problem with that is product like Baseball Heroes where this would be the most likely spot for this to happen and multiples of the same card, be it the same base or an insert version, the same person will keep getting the card(s) and the other people will not have a shot. you also have multiple multi player cards where the same player appears in the first couple slots on the cards and other players who are featured less wouldn't be the top ot left at all so that player would never have a shot either.

So an easy way to keep track of who gets what might not be fair to everyone and may give certain players an advantage.

Valid point. I may have to mull this over more and soak in more suggestions.

I may end up just taking a deck of cards, shuffle them, take two cards off the top, and whoever draws the highest card gets the HIT. All of this is live on camera of course. If there are four players, I would draw four cards. If two of the same card is pulled (i.e. Ace of spades and ace of hearts), suit ranking would come into play. From highest to lowest: Spades, Hearts, Clubs, Diamonds. So ace of spades would beat ace of hearts. The player on the top or left is the first card I draw, player on bottom or right is second card I draw, etc.

Does this make sense? What does everyone think?

honestly I don't care how we do the duals. although I think this is a good idea. Other than heroes, there won't be many duals.

And The prices are delivered correct. thanks.

Deciding the multi-player cards in this way makes sense. It still keeps the distribution random and still allow you to do the breaks quickly.

Re: 18 VARIOUS HOBBY BOXES: player break draft style - 17 LEFT!!

Carl,
I think the fairest way for everyone is to put all 150 names/numbers in the hat. Once pulled you leave them out. Your way mentioned below creates the possibility that a person who bought one "share" could win multiple times on the unclaimed hits. It could also (more likely scenario) create an unfair advantage for those who bought more. While I understand your thought that people who bought more should have a better chance, they already do. If I bought 10 spots, I would have a 1 in 15 chance. If I buy one, I have a 1 in a 150 chance. If you keep putting the winner back in, those odds never change. But keep in mind the person with 10 still will have a better chance each time than the person with one (1 in 14.9 vs. 1 in 149, etc.). Also keep in mind everyone is paying approximately the same $ for a "share". Actually, if you bought more, your per share cost is less.

Just my 2 cents. I am game no matter what you or the group decides. Thanks for organizing this and it will be a fun break!

each hit will be raffled off as explained in the first post. you have 2 slots, so you get 2 raffles. 150 raffles are in the tin and i pull out a name each time there is an unclaimed hit. since some participants are paying more than others, the names immediately go back into the bin so everyone has the same % chance they originally did for each hit.

so the guy that has 10 slots will have a much better chance of getting an unclaimed hit than the guy that just bought one slot. but everyone does have a chance...

hope that helps.

I will go ahead and take 1 more for a total of 2 for me and random is fine.

Also how exactly will all the extra unclaimed hits be raffled off? Will each significant hit be raffled off individually? Or will all the unclaimed stuff from each box go to a different person? Or will all the unclaimed hits just go to one person? (I would rather it not be this one as I would like to see stuff kind of spread around)

Hey there - can you change slot 108 to dp33? That's my username here. I'll also take another slot if you still have one left - doesn't matter which number to me. Thanks! David (pantooka33 from the Topps board)

Do you know when you are going to do the draft order because knowing when my 2 picks will be will make it a lot easier to do a priority list.
