So is that like the most expensive baseball card from 1990? I can only think of a few from that year that will sell for even triple digits.

Does the fact that this card was released during his playing days make it more appealing than if it were released, say, last year? Obviously he didn't have nearly as many cards released during his playing days compared to after it.

That and condition.....if it is "real" it is in great condition considering some of the others from this set that most of us have seen.

I think the darkness of the text has more to do with the quality of the image. Everything on that card is off due to the poor photograph and not being a scan. From what I can tell, the font seems right, but I could be mistaken. The fakes I've seen have been stamped with a font that isn't quite right.

There is a ton from this set alone (Aqueous) that would sell for triple digits and quite a few others I can think of that would do well (1990 Score Promos of the big stars). For the elite player collector's who have a player in the Aqueous Test or even the Blue/White Test Issue, this is a pinnacle in collecting, way scarcer than anything the companies can put out today. I still need the Clark and I regret not going after the 1 that came up for auction a little stronger than I did. Now, $3500 far FAR exceeded what I expected this to bring, but $1000 wasn't going to be a surprise at all. For those that think these cards are worth very little, go find yourself a set (pay nothing for them), sell them on ebay and make a mint. They simply aren't around. I'll put my 1990 Score Promo and 1990 Sportsflics promo right up there with the Aqueous Test cards too, few people mention those, but are a true milestone in early 90's player collecting. If you don't have a player you collect in any of those sets, consider yourself lucky rather than call it crazy. Especially with Brett, this is probably the rarest promo he has (right up there with the Score promo), so although pricey, it truly made someone's day, probably year. I know the underbidder and I'm sure he's shocked he didn't win, but hopefully, that big of a sale might convince others to finally sell. I say, congrats to the seller, but even bigger congrats to the winner, who finally gets to knock off a true "white whale" in their collection.

I'd say, definitely yes. Same reason, 90's inserts far outsell the contrived rarity of cards put out today. I personally prefer cards made during Clark's career, and I know a lot of the other Clark collector's do as well. It might be Brett's rarest or most sought after card (playing years of course). I don't really count the 1/1's made in 2010 and such and I can think of only 1 other Brett card I've been (Score Promo) that would come close to that final sales price. Still, unbelievable sale and I was definitely surprised. I hope the high bidder finds this site and shows it off a little on the site, b/c it's a great find.

I don't see how this can be a real sale. It's a $40-$200 card tops.

I know the underbidder (through emails anyway). His bid is definitely real. I don't recognize the high bidder name so it's possible he's fairly new. I personally think it's a $400 to $600 card fairly easily. I bid over $400 on it anyway. I think it's a real marquee card for a die hard Brett collection. Like I said above, I hope the buyer gets it ok and shows it off here, which might ultimately bring more out of collections. I hope sales like this occur, creates a buzz, so people dig around more.

Ryan has at least 5 that would range into the 4 digits. His 1990 score promo could quite likely hit 5 digits.

I'm itching to see a few big 1990 Score Promo's go up for auction, not that it matters when it comes to my Clark b/c I'd never sell it, just like to have comparable auctions to go by. I thought you had the Ryan 1990 Score Promo. Doesn't someone on the site have the Ryan?

My thoughts exactly. I hope a bunch start coming out on the open market. I want a couple of Clark's to come out so the bids stay reasonable :)

Donato has the 90 Score Promo and the 93 Flair Promo on his website..

I picked up a couple 91 Score promos last night that I'll probably put up - Cecil Fielder and Dave Stewart.

Paid $200 for the Aqueous and $250 for the Blue/White test. For Ripken, I know there are least 4 Aqueous's in existence and 3 Blue/White's
