While I am sure that I probably couldn't afford it, I would love to find a Chris Sabo Aqueous Test for my collection.

Congrats to all who have their players! Very nice.

I thank goodness that there's no Olerud Aqueous!

Even if I had the funds to drop, I don't know that I would shell out so much for that auction. The pictures are not that good, and I'd be really concerned about the card being fake. I could understand paying a premium for a graded (i.e. authenticated) card, but for a raw card presented as it was in that auction... I don't think so Tim.

As long as the guy who won it is happy, I guess that's all that matters. Plus, he'll get nice chunk of change in eBay bucks.

I won mine in the summer of 2008, I think. I forget what I paid, but I think it was somewhere around $400. (It's possible another Clark collector will recall, but I don't really keep track, as I never plan to sell.) I completely agree that these are among the most desirable cards from the 1990s.

Personally, I think the 1992 Donruss DK Super is more desirable. I was really excited when I added the Aqueous card a couple years ago, but the DK Super was even more of a thrill for me. I find the DK Super more desirable because they appear to be significantly more rare and there is no doubt that the DK Super was a Donruss product while the Aqueous is still quite a mystery (in quantity, distribution and history).

Anyway, this seems like a good time for Show-and-Tell...

I was the one who sold the Brett on ebay. It was real. I had it in my Brett collection for many, many years. I stumbled upon a dealer (might have been a west cost national in LA or SF as I used to live in Calif) that must have been one of the "original" dealers that aquired these cards. This dealer had everything. All the aqueous cards, all the blue/white's. He was selling them all for $15-$25 a card based on the player. I just lucked into being one of the first Brett collectors to hit his table. I sold it along with all my rare Brett stuff over a few days on ebay. I also sold the 82 FBI disc, Fasson crack n' peel sticker (test issue?), old black and white team issue cards from the 70's, 77 MSA cup lid, Star promo's, etc. The buyer of the card got it just fine (I double boxed it and insured it just to be safe) and gave their positive feedback to me.

There really is not much difference between the aqueous and the normal card. Just the "aqueous test" printed across the back and also no period after INC on the back of the card. To me, the gloss on the front is the same but I really never held it up at an angle right next to the normal card.

I have not collected Brett for several years now and just decided it was time to sell the collection. Glad I did. Timing seemed right!

Seems that as someone else on this board predicted it has brought some aqueous out of the woodwork! There is now another seller offering a bunch of aqueous on ebay. That seller does not explain where they all came from and has a zero feedback rating. I would definetly ask a lot of questions and be sure to ask for a very clear, detailed picture of the INC on the back to be sure there is no period after it. Otherwise the font looks correct. They may be real.

If anyone has any questions I would be glad to answer. Thanks!

Gremelwood.

Even though it had been years since I actively collect all those Brett cards it was still HARD to part with the collection.

When I thought about it however I came to the conclusion that I can't take it with me! Also, the value, in my opinion, will only go down as active Brett collectors start to fade away. Brett is not an iconic figure like Ruth, Cobb, Mantle, etc. and I do not believe my sons generation would actually want to collect him. Therefore it was time to move on. I am just glad that some of those Brett collectors out there could finally cross a few "must have's" off their want lists! That was fun to see. I got to email back and forth with some very nice people!

Isn't there a Rob Deer collector here?

I wouldn't mind a second copy of the Deer if you go after the Bosio and want to recoup some cost
