just go to Beckett and when it finally loads.. in the search area key in "1998 Donruss Signature xxxx" (replace xxxx with the players name)

Good luck,

the back of the card doesn't say anything about it being auto'd right? and there are digits on the back of the card, but it doens't say ***/***, it just ***. is that right? how do you know the print run? and how do you know if it' authentic, as i know donruss often released cards where only the first *** amount were auto'd

The regular autos (red) had a print run of 3900, unless noted by Donruss. The Millenium Marks (green) had a print run of 1000, and they were serial numbered, but not ***/1000. Same goes for the Century Marks (blue); print run of 100 and numbered, but not xx/100. I know that Beckett had a print run listing for the cards that had less than the official print run announced by Donruss, since a lot of players only signed a handful and returned them, if at all.

someone said green were /385?[/quote:oayy6mdz]

I think some were SP's.[/quote:oayy6mdz]

Correct.
Not all players have the same print run.
I case of Ripken, his Green Millenium Marks Auto is SERIAL numbered /375. (Mine is 181/375 to be exact)

Some did slip though without autos and without serial numbering.
SO if you are worried about authenticity, just buy ones that are in fact serial numbered.

As a true player collector, I have both... ;)

Some players have cards but aren't included in the set :o

And another thing to add, the Preview autos were not released in the 1998 Donruss Signature set. As their title implies, they were released into a previous set as a preview for the actual set. Unfortunately, I don't remember what set that was.

To quote Beckett:
Twenty-nine of these 34 cards were randomly inserted into Donruss Update packs. These 29 cards were previewing the then-upcoming 1998 Donruss Signature Series set. Each player signed a slightly different amount of cards so we have put the amount of cards signed next to the players name in our checklist.

My Red Ortiz doesn't have numbering on the back. I know it's SPed to 3400 though.

I think they only numbered the green and blue. I have the rainbow, would have to check.

it's got 4 digits on the back, so this is a pack pulled auto right? released signed in 1998?

If there are foil stamped numbering on the back, then yes it's pack pulled.

If the cards are red, blue, or green bordered, then they are certified autographs. If the card is the base white, then it would either be a TTM or IP auto. Unless you start talking about the 1996 set, which all auto cards were white with a foil stamp in the middle (bronze, silver, gold).

Not quite sure what you mean by "base white"?

What the poster is worried about are the backdoored 1998 Donruss Signatures Millennium and Century Marks. There were many that made it out unsigned...and no serial number on the back. I am assuming that people have had them signed in person and throw them on Ebay ...buyers are deceived into thinking they were pack pulled.

The pack pulled Millennium and Century Mark autos WILL have the serial number stamped on the back.

Nice.
J.O.

You can stop worrying now.
Yours IS real. Legit. Not IP Auto'd. Not Backboored.
YOU got the numbering, you are safe.

I picked up the Century Marks /100 earlier in the week from Pinbreaker.
:D

"Base white" refers to the base cards, not the autos, which were printed on white stock, not colored like the autos.
