What do you think the 500 Club (714 HR) version of the Ruth card should go for?

Since there are only 50 of them, depending on the condition, they sell pretty good..

A member here, picked one up on the cheap and had it graded.. sold it for $5k..

He mentioned that when you asked earlier in this thread..

I saw that, but it wasn't clear how long ago that was.
Also, I was trying to get multiple opinions.
My take is that it is a $4 to $5k card.
I am also curious as to whether he had put it up on Ebay or private sale.
Thanks.

The sale was a private sale. It was also a BGS 9, and not too many have graded well, so that helped the price.

There was one that just ended on eBay with no bids at $3000. IMO that's a pretty low price for the card and I think if the auction had started at a lower price, it might have gotten at least that.

The reality is that since Upper Deck has lost its license and the set has not been continued (coupled with the fact that they stopped releasing signed versions even when they did exist, and they made Thome and Thomas 1 per case, a far greater print run than the 350 they used to be) and the set is not as collectible as it used to be. Many new collectors likely do not even know much about the set, and because no new cards are being produced, it is hard to see why they would end learning about it. Still the cards continue to sell really well (a set was recently broken up and listed and many of the sales were higher than I had ever seen) so who knows...

Wow.. four of the auto'd ones in one BIN..

from Venezuela as well..

I was thinking $2k for Mays, $700 for the Robinson, $500 for the Jackson and no idea whatsoever for the Matthews. Any opinion on potential value?

Looking at his feedback apparently he's sold lots of high-end in the past (pretty much everything he has sold is $1000 or more.)

Wish I could make an offer, but does not seem like there is any way.

Man I want that lot with the autos pretty bad. Too much though based on what they currently would go for i think.

Realistically, what is an accurate price that this card could sell for? Am I out of line to think that if it was to get graded it get somewhere near 7-8000?

I honestly think graded and with it being 1/9 coming from Ted Williams collection it could go over 10,000 but I'm not a card expert nor do I claim to be :)

That's what I was thinking also. I definitely think there is an opportunity to purchase that card and maybe the century collection numbered his jersey, get them graded and sell them on eBay because there is a larger audience.

George - Does your phone friend have an Ernie Banks by any chance? And would he like $2500 for it?

Pinbreaker - Thank you for directing me to magicpapa. That Griffey he has is unreal. He directed me to the baseballcardpedia which says Griffey is in Etchings... I fear that baseballcardpedia has followed the one link I have found here:
http://www.peninsulasportscards.com/hotpulls.html
8. 2004 Upper Deck Etchings BB Piece Of History 500 HR Club Autographed Bat Ken Griffey Jr #X/25

Etchings has no stated odds for the card, while UD Series 2 packaging, and the UD website both do. I am still looking for concrete information on the matter for anyone out there with it, I'm willing to give compensation for your help at putting my mind at ease!

Thanks to everyone who's helped so far!

The more I think about it, the more seeing that Ruth go for $7500 hurts.
