I'm going to do my best to keep them together.
I didn't realize, but 14 of the cards in this set are numbered to 15 or less...19 are numbered to 50 or less.
Thanks for the comments...it's the first auto set I've completed. They all be slabbed eventually (17 of them went in the group sub)
Well that didn't seem like it took very long! Congrats!
I started the project in early/middle January so it took around 3 months. The patch set will take a bit longer (I still haven't seen a Varitek patch auto).
pghbuccos said:congratulations. that is quite an accomplishment.
the Varitek is my favorite.

Congrats! That's probably the best auto set of 2008.
If you started any later it would have taken a lot longer to complete. I just completed a 2001 auto set where each card is serial numbered to 100. I think it took about 4 years to complete. I think your set will go up in value over time because they look really nice and player collectors will want them. I still can't believe the Billy Williams sells for so little. I think I've bought 3-4 of them purely because it's a bat barrel swatch; the auto is just a bonus.

I agree that I see no reason the ink would fade at all, as it is really almost "absorbed" into the bat. Pretty crazy how in all the years of game-used and autographed cards, this is only like the third time that a company has done auto'd GU barrels like that, and yet the prices have remained ridiculously low, even on the vintage guys.
