Re: Anyone Pre-buying 2010 Topps Chrome?

Players who played in the bigs could include Strasburg, Heyward, Stanton, Leake, Posey, Ike Davis, Austin Jackson, Castro etc. Taht would make for a strong checklsit

The USA autos are one per case, correct? And it is the College team that will play this summer, not the guys who were just in Bowman Chrome. So there will be some nice pulls, like Rendon, but plenty of duds.

I think the same goes for the rookie autos. The Topps Chrome autos since '06 have been guys who have actually played in the bigs, not prospects. And I doubt the checklist will include anyone called up after about August 1 at the latest. I think all that adds up to making it a pretty weak break. I guess speculating on sealed wax is a different story, but as someone said, a September release date means there is not going to be a ton of hype for the product.

Best price I can find right now seems to be about $750/case. Does this seem like a decent price? I've never really bought Topps Chrome (just Bowman). Seems like this will be HOT too with the prospects and exclusivity...Any thoughts on this price?

I plan on doing some player drafts for this.

2010 products will be just as sought after as 03/04 basketball products.

My dealer told me there are 25 different autograph subjects, 2 per box....Sooooo the odds are one strasburg auto per box, or nearly.

Sorry for being Debbie Downer here, but I honestly don't see the appeal of this product as a whole.

Aside from the USA autos (which we don't know who will be included yet - and will there be any parallels at all?), as well as the Stras and Heyward autos, what else is there, really?

Bowman was appealing to me because it had many more prospects included than just the few obvious ones.

You've obviously never struck it rich by hoarding Lance Berkman blue refractors

I am claiming the ryan superfractor. It will be his first and whoever pulls it on the site can penny sleeve it, pop it in a top loader and team bag then write in big letters on it BOUWOB.

I figured I'd just write BOUWOB directly on the card and then do the prep work....Of course I kid.

One would have to be a collector to understand.

That's not true at all. "Collectors" are not driving the case prices.

I'm a set collector and I see no reason to buy boxes of Topps Chrome.

The main hits are parallels of vets that sell for a buck or two a pop, and two "RC" autographs of guys who've had cards since 2004. There are also chrome parallels of regular Tppps inserts that again sell for a few bucks each.

I'll buy a complete set on eBay for the price of a box.
