each pack contains two slabs?

better be one PSA and one BGS, so the pack searchers are thrown off a little

Also, BGS sucks for vintage cards

2011 Leaf "Best Of" Baseball

I am heading out for the holiday but wanted to share some thoughts:

1) We have indeed lowered factory coat by nearly 10%, cut production by nearly 25% and added a cut signature in every pack..

2) We had no plans to make this product until somewhat recently. We have had literally 100's of emails from distributors, dealers and collectors asking for more items like this. My job is to deliver what people are asking for. It certainly isn't for everyone, but many people will find this a fun product. The fact that Rookie Retro from 2010 has risen to 300.00+ per box reinforces that this demand exists and is substantial.

3) It truly is "the best of baseball"..
It is not just rookies, but basically any an every cool card imaginable.. From Koufax tribute autos to USA buyback Harper to 1952 topps mantle to t206's... We chose to focus on baseball as many collectors shared their desire for a buyback product without multisport focus..

4) the cut signature cards of lesser names (doerr, aparicio, etc) are all short prints . There are 20 times more Greg Maddux than aparicio, doerr or the like)...

5) Due to the massive collection of included cards, there is not a formal checklist of all buyback cards being released. There are over 2000 different cards included in this release. As you can see, we have included a checklist of cuts (we will always checklist original Leaf content)...

6) Boxes are built by hand, however due to small 3 box cases, all boxes will be packed and then randomly cased. Therefore, a 3 box case could have 0,1,2 or 3 hits in it... 100& randomized..,

The cards pictured are some of the higher end cards, however I can assure you that I believe this product is definitely superior to Retro...

We are not able to answer all questions posted to thread, however you may feel free to pm questions and may post my replies...

Thanks for the support...BG

Not 2 slabs... 2 cards. 1 BGS/PSA Graded card and 1 Cut auto.

Re-read it... it is 2 slabbed cards... the Cut is encapsulated by BGS.... so you will have 2 BGS cards in quite a few packs.

That's what kills it for me. For how much this is going to cost, I would be highly pissed if I busted a case and got 0 hits.

Muskie,
It works both ways. People are scared to buy loose boxes when there is a case hit.

Randomizing the case increases the upside of a case break (and downside) but also makes dead boxes loose a non-issue..

Putting exactly 1 case hit per case is the equivalent of putting a box on the shelf at walmart by the pack, it's gonna get picked...

Yea I had to check twice myself. I saw 2 cards... 1 BGS/PSA... but didnt realize the Cut was also slabbed. So those packs could be searched knowing the heavier packs will contain 2 BGS cards.... unless he adds some weight to the PSA boxes to counter that.

Leaf is on a roll. Looks like another solid offering. Is Pete Rose stuff gonna hit soon.

how is having the good fortune to buy
a bunch of better cards and then repack them
a solid offering?

Boomo,
I think he might be saying the value proposition is very attractive compared to the average wax or quite possibly he is commenting on the fun pack opening experience.

Regardless, differing opinions and debate is exactly what makes this hobby fun.

There will always be thoes with enough money to throw at something like this and hope to hit a 52 mantle or such, and thoes who do hit them will be happy as a pig in poo! However, It's my understanding that a very large percentage will simply feel unsatisfied with there purchase. And thats the obsticle to overcome. How can you do thins and still keep the majority satisfied? It's my opinion that this concept is not impossible. Sure, with every product there is a similar albiet not as wide a delta of hit or miss, but with most box and/or case breaks, even if you dont hit the big one, you still are left with a feeling of satisfaction, atleast I am.... Would I be happier with my box of chrome if I hit a super? Absolutely, but even with a 30-40 roi box, Im still satisfied. It gave me a few minutes of busting pleasure, it gave me a handful of cards to stash away and gives me years of replay value. THis product has none of that. Simply rip and flip, much like a scratch off...

Make no mistake here, I am fully aware of the demand of such a product. And BG would be foolish not to fill the void and profit from it. I just wish the product was a bit more creative and offer a bit more satisfaction per box/case despite the large delta between value per average box and big hit. How can one instill satisfaction seperate from value? Well, thats the $64,000 question. But with a bit of creativity and perhaps a few less dollars profit, it could be done. Anyway, just my 2.........

If you don't like it.. don't buy it..

Just sit back and watch those of us that like Razor/Leaf products..

At least I know I won't get a redemption for a card like I got out of Exquisite FB this year.. (I got 5 redemptions, and a few were TBD's.. When I asked the UD CS Rep.. he said they don't know who the auto's will be.. they will just be plucked off the shelf and sent out..

It's a gamble just like the lottery is a gamble.. if you spend enough $$ on it, you are bound to get hit now and then..

Are you saying this as a collector... or as a distributor of cards (for lack of a better term)? In your role here it seems you're trying to make this statement 'self-fulfilling prophecy' LOL, there's not a lot of 'debate' to be had here actually, perhaps only a bit of marketing.

Can't always play both sides against the middle, but I don't see this product as adding to or taking away from the hobby as its essentially the further redistribution (or flipping) of existing cards.

Take a look at some of what I got from Legends of the Diamond, most of which are less than the pack price but they are some of my favorite cards now! I bought a case of Topps Gypsy Queen for the price of what 6 of these Legends of the Diamond packs cost and my best card from that was a William and Kate plastic jewel!( plus about 5 Wade Leblanc autos to boot) I'd much rather have any 6 of these great high grade old cards than that whole case of Gypsy bad autos and numerous Buchholz jersey cards. It is disposable income and a gamble I know but I really like this kind of product

That goes for any pack with very little cards other than the "big" hits.
Triple Threads
Exquisite
National Treasures
Sterling
ETC
Bowman Chrome the example you used, you will never be out much if you are patient and sell the base chrome and refractors as they get hot. These 1 big hit products you will win or lose 100% of the time there is no middle.
