getting rid of the guarenteed "hit" just gets Razor off the hook if a case is shorted. You might as well revisit
the fleer odds of old...1:25 1:49 1:289.

Obviously a brilliant money-maker from Brian's end of the stick, but to buy a case and get nothing of value?

These products are getting stale...especially when it gets to the point of an $800 case with $200 worth of cards in it.

I know I'm always the voice of negativity, but this "hobby" has gone to ****

There will always be thoes with enough money to throw at something like this and hope to hit a 52 mantle or such, and thoes who do hit them will be happy as a pig in poo! However, It's my understanding that a very large percentage will simply feel unsatisfied with there purchase. And thats the obsticle to overcome. How can you do thins and still keep the majority satisfied? It's my opinion that this concept is not impossible. Sure, with every product there is a similar albiet not as wide a delta of hit or miss, but with most box and/or case breaks, even if you dont hit the big one, you still are left with a feeling of satisfaction, atleast I am.... Would I be happier with my box of chrome if I hit a super? Absolutely, but even with a 30-40 roi box, Im still satisfied. It gave me a few minutes of busting pleasure, it gave me a handful of cards to stash away and gives me years of replay value. THis product has none of that. Simply rip and flip, much like a scratch off...

Make no mistake here, I am fully aware of the demand of such a product. And BG would be foolish not to fill the void and profit from it. I just wish the product was a bit more creative and offer a bit more satisfaction per box/case despite the large delta between value per average box and big hit. How can one instill satisfaction seperate from value? Well, thats the $64,000 question. But with a bit of creativity and perhaps a few less dollars profit, it could be done. Anyway, just my 2.........

Mat,

Thanks for the thoughts. I would have to disagree.

First, go open 2-3 cases of almost any new product (except Bowman brands obviously) and I can assure you your ROI (return investment) is dramatically higher with a repack proiduct. YOu can spend $185 on Legendary cuts baseball and walk away with $10 or $10,000. HOwever, on Best of Baseball, the very worst pack will yield about $50, while the best yields $13,000. I would argue that the volatility is far less and generally customers will have a much smoother ROI.

Second, on the satisfaction scale, this product is no different than any other. The excitement/risk/fear/joy/uncertainty of opening this product absolutely can be a source of satisfaction regradless of the hit. How is pulling a 2005 Bowman Sterling Braun auto BGS 9.5 less satisfying than pulling a Topps Update and Highlights Braun auto that will be dime a dozen in a new release?
You are in the same boat as anyone else... you either are happy to pull a Braun card or you arent.

Lastly, I would still argue that this product utililzes creativity in its sheer concept. We are constantly evolving this, such as adding cut signatures in place of plain jane prodspect signed cards liek RRR.

I appreciate the thoughts. However, I am not sure where "perhaps a few less dollars profit" comes from. No one knows how much I spent on this product. I can assure you that none of the 3 major card companies would EVER put out a product with (a) this low of a profit margin, (b) this low of revenue/sales, and (c) this much extensive work having to be done to source/buyback..

I do agree that we should (and we will) continue to develop this concept further for future and do everything possible to deliver maximum value, maximum fun/excitement with minimum financial risk.

Thanks for providing thoughts... BG

...Regardless, differing opinions and debate is exactly what makes this hobby fun.

Bg

Are you saying this as a collector... or as a distributor of cards (for lack of a better term)? In your role here it seems you're trying to make this statement 'self-fulfilling prophecy' LOL, there's not a lot of 'debate' to be had here actually, perhaps only a bit of marketing.

Can't always play both sides against the middle, but I don't see this product as adding to or taking away from the hobby as its essentially the further redistribution (or flipping) of existing cards.

As a collector, I always think its fun to debate this stuff.....

As a manufacturer, this somewhat polarizing view is why we make the variety of products we make. Some collectors are tired of the same old same old product, which gives rise to the market's desire for a product like this. On the negative side, I honestly get worn out from those that blindly spew venom without giving a product a chance. I agree with the above post, buy it if you like it, dont if you dont.

As you may have noticed, we no longer start threads regarding new products. Well let interested collectors post this so we are not accused of pimping and pandering.
The debate is somewhat simple, do you like these sorts of offerings or not? Either way, vote with your wallet. If no one wants them, we certainly wont make them. If everyone wants them, well make more of them.

Yes, checklist finalized...
Design finished....
No securing photos...

These will be all ON-CARD (an MMA first),... This will be time consuming, but worth it!

So you pick Mr. Prospector to make a post about a product he likely wont touch?

Cool. Any first time signers (big names) that you are expecting to sign? Josh Barnett, Sergei Kharitonov, etc.

You should always just stop with the bolded since almost every new product has you saying this.

I will probably buy one like the last time since i'd like anyone to name how many products they can currently buy with so many established iconic cards?

Every product at every price has a high chance you'll get skunked.

Seems to me Leaf is just Razor with a different name. The majority of the releases mirror a Razor idea. Not necessarily a bad thing but I thought Leaf was going to bring a bit more originality to the table.
