I'm surprised Herzlich wasn't selected. He didn't have a great combine but he consistently performed on the field.
Why wouldn't a team draft him in the 7th round, at that point, what do you have to lose? The reward out weighs the risk IMO. If he fails, who cares, it was just a 7th round pick.

He does have a rod in his leg from the treatment apparently.

With that said, this always gets me with the NFL draft. I have a hard time believing that guys like Alex Wujack, DeAndre McDaniel, Dane Sanzenbacher, Mark Herzlich, Jeff Maehl, etc. are less of a prospect that these small school guys. The produced big time at the highest level in college.

I know there is the size issue, but give me Kendric Burney any day over Cortez Allen, for example.

100% agree, they were successful against other big college programs and are worth a gamble in the later rounds.

Given that big school college performers have the benefit of exposure and name recognition, I suspect that teams have done enough homework on those guys to feel comfortable taking a pass.

My hunch is that the type of late round flier that you envision simply hasn't paid off very often, so teams end up looking to take higher upside unknown players.

I've been a Jake Locker fan since I first saw him in college, but after seeing the profile that they did on E:60 - I hope he has an AWESOME career in the NFL.

I think they often gamble on small school players w/ pretty good measureables rather than take consistent big school performers in hopes of finding a hidden gem.

WOW! Mel just picked Ricky Stanzi as his pick for "2011 QB with best career".

I'll go with Gabbert and Kaepernick...

[quote="JoshHamilton":c3gotog4]Don't the Cowboys already have Choice, Barber and Jones? What do they need Murray for? Are they gonna run the single-wing or something?

 , darn good question. Murray has durability issues just like Jones but he's another 4.4 guy. For a francise that had success w/ a slower back they only want ones who are burners. I'd love to know what Choice did that the Cowboys can't go w/ him as the starter.
he only lost a game for us

and why dont you like the Murray pick? already read on 2 sites that he will be the 3rd down back and that Barber is gone for sure.

Murray will be our starter in 2 years and i dont see Choice being with us after this year

Really, I thought that play occured before halftime and wasn't it Barron who got called for holding on the TD catch?

Murray has good hands and good straight line speed. He isn't a power runner, he doesn't really make people miss, and he has durability issues. What does he bring to the Cowboys that they don't already have? Choice is the best of the three but he lacks 4.4 speed.
get off your kool aid. as good as you think Choice is, he will never have a shot in Big D.

Murray and Felix are the future

If that is the true Jerry and Garrett are fools. Between Murray and Jones they will be lucky to get 16 games combined from them.[/quote:c3gotog4]

How funny yankees using the kool aid term. He has been proven wrong time and again about felix jones. TIME AND AGAIN

Murray will be the starter lol. That whole division is hoping for that trust me

However if you read it on 2 other sites full of underoo wearing kids then it must be true

love the Demarco Murray "supercollector" addition to your sig thats some classic shat right there...I somehow can't see the DHB "supercollector" title anymore. Whatever a supercollector is you would think you would have that ;)

Sorry, Yanks, but nothing beat your gem in the Cowboys chat thread  . He didn't get drafted at all, so maybe the Cowboys will bring him in as a rookie fa.

The Cowboys picked the wrong back in 08 and looking to fill the role Jones was supposed to they took Murray in the 3rd. They want a speedy back who can return kicks, make game breaking plays, and contribute in the passing game. Because the Cowboys stuck to these qualities in 2008 they missed on Mendenhall, and now they pulled the samething passing over other areas of need to get a fast back w/ hands and the ability to return kicks. Jerry just can't get out of his own way. ::facepalm::

NO. Jimmy Johnson got us rings. Jerry killed the dynasty.

Sounds about right.lol Jerry made one good choice, bringing in Deion, but even that move killed the salary cap from 96-on.

Hmmm, a bandwagon fan. You must also like the Celtics. Still the 'Girls didn't have too bad of a draft and if Romo can stay healthy this year they will contend. They won't win it all but they will be there at the end of the season, well if there is one.
