2011 NHL Winter Classic Thread - GAME TIME NOW 8PM EST

the NHL along with the Penguins and Capitals will hold the first Media Conference for the 2011 Bridgestone NHL Winter Classic on Tuesday at Noon EDT. the NHL and the two teams will announce details concerning the game that will take place on New Year's Day 2011 at Heinz Field in Pittsburgh.

the NHL will be represented by commissioner Gary Bettman. the Penguins will be represented by chairman Mario Lemieux, president David Morehouse, general manager Ray Shero, captain Sidney Crosby, Max Talbot, Pascal Dupuis and Steelers president Art Rooney II. Pittsburgh mayor Luke Ravenstahl and Allegheny County executive Dan Onorato will be representing the city of Pittsburgh. the Capitals will be represented by president Dick Patrick, general manager George McPhee and players Mike Knuble and David Steckel.

the NHL Network will carry the media conference live.

there really wasn't any new info announced today. just a chance for everyone to thank each other for the chance to play in the Winter Classic. it would appear that the Penguins will wear jerseys featuring the scarfed penguin logo in their first few years in the NHL.

i liked that scarfed penguin logo, im gonna have to get that jersey when it comes up for sale. Still waiting on the Flames and what their heritage classic jerseys are gonna look like

I will probably buy one of these jerseys as well. they haven't revealed the actual jersey yet but the scarfed penguin is the official logo so I would have to think it's going to be on the jersey.

Hope we get a Winter Classic fight again this year. Thornton and Carcillo fight added a lot to Fenway game. ALthough Caps went with a very soft line up all of last season. I hope they add some toughness this year. Is Godard and Rupp still with Pens?

Jeff these are the rumored jerseys...

matchpenalty Godard and Rupp are both still with the Pens. Matt Cooke, Tyler Kennedy and Max Talbot aren't afraid to drop the gloves either but like you said most of the Caps are soft and can't really fight.

they have not announced on sale dates yet.

Penguins season ticket holders will be offered tickets first followed by Capitals season ticket holders then Steelers season ticket holders and then the remaining tickets will go on sale to the general public.

we were informed yesterday by our Pens ticket account rep that we will be allowed to purchase one ticket for every one ticket we have at the Consol Energy Center. the same thing will apply to Caps and Steelers season ticket holders.

Dick's Sporting Goods will be selling these Penguins t-shirts starting this weekend...

the dark blue is rumored to be the primary color of the Pens jerseys.

yeah I really like the navy blue one as well and will probably pick one up. I can check and see if they have any triple XL's when I am there. it will not be until Tuesday though.

Couldn't find them on the site right now, but yeah i love that Blue one and its so hard to find 3XL shirts. Im not that big (6'1" 240lbs), but i like to wear my clothes kind of big and baggy and 3XL feels comfortable for me.

icethetics.info has posted a drawing of the Penguins jersey. this jersey has been drawn to match all of the details the Pens have said the jersey would have except for the missing WC Logo on the chest and the numbers on the sleeves.

I am a huge fan of this version and really really hope this is THE jersey...
