just busting your chops bro. My point is why cover up a patch like that if it is one piece. I will still debate that this is a patch yeah I am thick but to me it dont scream patch.

You're kidding right Joe?You started off by saying it wasn't a patch.Don't try to turn it around now and insult me.

Well, the Jackie Quad with AIR holes got pulled!

Guess I can increase my bid on the double, since 95vr put me in the #2 spot.

homerun28aa: Why are you so surprised? It's not everyday you come across Robinson AIR holes & prime patches/stitches. Man up. These won't be cheap.

I'm surprised cause I've honestly never seen a Jackie patch go for more than $450 and that was a really, really nice red patch and his red color patches are more rare than the blue ones. The dual up to $850 is just insane, the quad patch is a ridiculously nice card but I don't even like the dual that much.

I posted this above before the thread got sidetracked. Any thoughts?

I don't follow this set, or modern game-used in general, but I have a question. Is the bat on the Joe Jackson card actually a Joe Jackson bat? My (very limited) understanding is that Jackson bats are incredibly rare. Not just expensive, but rare to the point where there are only two or three known authentic examples.

The card doesn't actually say that it's a Joe Jackson card. It simply says that Panini guarantees "the enclosed game-used material."

So, who used the "material" in question?

Am I off on this one?

I'm going to let other guys who are more familiar with the HOF game used world speak to it but I do believe it is an actual Joe Jackson GU Bat, yes.

It is an actual Joe Jackson game used bat. However, they do not generally go as high as the 2001 UD legendary cuts joe jackson bat. That bat is licensed by the MLB and generally game used collectors believe that prior to 2006 companies took more care in insuring that the relics were actually game used/worn. But yes Panini is at least claiming that that Joe Jackson card contains small pieces of wood that were used by Joe Jackson at some point. I also think you're mistaking about the amount of known Jackson bats out there. There are more than 2-3 of his bats known to exist.

On another note, that Griffey nicknames is gonna go through the roof. And the Hornsby Ted Williams Cobb Jackson quad with patches is sick

The way I've always understood it regarding Jackson is that you have the rest of the bats, then you have the "Black Beauty" bat - this is the one that most often gets talked about and that is super rare.

Guess you can say differently now.
Dual is up to $1K, so it has some appeal to others.

Wish the quad didn't get pulled.

Yeah exactly, except it's called "Black Betsy" lol, no one is ever cutting up that one, last time it was at auction I think it got 650K

Black Betsy per Wiki

It was created by a local fan of the South Carolina mill teams, Charlie Fergerson. He used the northern side of a hickory tree to make the bat.[SUP][2][/SUP] It ended up measuring 36 inches and weighting 48 ounces. Knowing that Jackson liked blacked bats, Fergerson darkened the bat with tobacco juice. He took the bat to the Minor Leagues, where the fans chanted "Give em Black Betsy" whenever he came to bat.

Clearly. I got this one with an airhole awhile back for $45 or $40 something like that. And I know that there were others in the 2002 legendary cuts with airholes. So not sure how the dual got up to 1K that's insane.

Why do you wish the quad wasn't pulled?
