LOVE that Ginter card. I'm sure you are sooooo pleased that it came out so good! That 62 came from that giant Musial lot, didn't it?

Sure did.

And yes, very happy the Ginter and the 48 Bowman as well.
I was expecting the signatures we are seeing in Heritage.

Big props to Topps for getting Stan to sign. Him being able to pull of signings now is still pretty good. You get what you get and I like the character in these autos.

I can see the nostalgia kick in when you realize that this is a 90-year old man signing that card. (as opposed to an 18-year old kid.) Pretty awesome, really.

I would like to get one of the Happy 60th Topps Autos of Stan as I think those look cool. If I can find a halfway decent copy, I will be all over it.[/quote:2e8cxdro]

Be warned about the Topps 60th cards- a lot of them are smeared. The silver ink sucks. I have a Hamilton and a Stanton- both look like crap. Nice waste of $230

Ive seen 4 or 5 of them and you are correct, from the scans I have seen, not been impressed with any of them, just hoping that one shows up that is halfway decent, as I really love the looks of them. I would take a chance if the price was right.

Nice write-up, always wondered if the coins were uncirculated because they look pretty minty fresh.

Is the Al Kaline #/62?
yes, Its written in the top left hand corner in red ink on black background, very hard to see until you look at the card at certain angle under lights

Can anyone confirm that the green refractors are not numbered?

I'm in a little bit of overload right now. One of the things I love about Heritage is that there are a lot of cards to track down, but it IS possible. Right now I'm looking at the following insert sets and feeling a little overwhelmed. If I have any of this info wrong, please let me know.

Chrome set /1962
Ref set /562
Black ref set /62
Black Bordered Target set - Unnumbered
Green ref set - unnumbered
(These 5 should all be the same 100 cards/players.)

Blue Tint Wal-Mart SPs
Red Tint Target SPs
Green Tint SPs
"Star Rookie" white/yellow star SPs
"Topps" in numbering on back of card (not sure on this one. Can anyone confirm?)

Plus variations in the base set.

I'm slowly working on my Excel checklist and I will let everyone know when it is complete. Every time a new Heritage set comes out, I almost want to say "This is the year I stop collecting" and just focus on every Heritage card from 2001 to 2010, or whatever the prior year is. This is a lot of extra variations. I am still upset that they refuse to let me back onto the PSA boards because I love this time of year.

I don't think there are any yellow/white star "variations" of all the rookies I have, 4 players are white and they only have white and I have 7 of one guy

What did they ban you on PSA board. The passion in the heritage and ginter psa threads are the best in the hobby. Next to Leaf Razor threads here.

Very nice.

A red ink auto of a name people know
A silver dime couple with JFK (can they please get the dimes right side up?) - check out what this Moyer - [phil:1hkqbuct]300536107161[/phil:1hkqbuct] and this Robinson are already selling for - [phil:1hkqbuct]350448043977[/phil:1hkqbuct]

Love the dual patch too!

Jeff, the green refractors are definitely not numbered. They're also going to be very plentiful - figure you might get 3-4 regular refractors out of a hobby case, but you're guaranteed 24 greens per hobby case. I'm thinking you could pick it up pretty cheap.

edit: have you tried contacting Carol about reinstatement? I've heard that some folks have gotten 2nd chances with an apology. Given what she banned you for, I would be very surprised if she didn't reinstate you, especially given how long it has been.

just did a little more research and edited my variation speculation post on page 2:

keep in mind that in the original 1962 set, cards 110-196 were all available with a green tint variation, which it looks like Topps copied - but not only green, but also in blue (exclusive to Wal-Mart) and red (exclusive to Target). It looks like the greens are falling one per case, which means they're pretty darn short printed, but not as bad as the SSSSSSSSPs in recent years. In addition, some of the players in that number range had pose variations, one a regular card and the other green tinted.

At this point, until there is a ton of product broken, some of the following is pure speculation.

#22
1962 was a checklist with two different sets of numbers on the back
2011 is the San Diego Padres team card. Have a look at the back to see if there's any funny business going on. However, the checklists were printed separately again, which brings to mind 2005(?), which had variations of every checklist.

#129
1962 was Lee Walls - he can be found looking both right and left. His looking left pose was also a green tint.
2011 is Carlos Quentin - if it exists, look for a looking left pose variation with a green tint
on the green tint that's up, I don't see any kind of pose variation at all. Perhaps one still exists?

#132
1962 was the Angels team card - one variation had two floating heads inset in the photo
2011 is, guess what, the Angels team card. Hmm
confirmed as a simple green tint - lame, in my opinion. It would have been nice to have the two floating heads.

#134
1962 was Billy Hoeft, who had two poses. These poses weren't very distinct, but the regular one had a very distinct blue sky, while the green tint had... a green sky.
2011 is Brett Cecil - the one on eBay has has a VERY distinct blue sky. Hmm, guess we should be looking for a green sky, huh?
Cecil's green tint is a full frontal portrait, as opposed to the base card's somewhat side-view portrait

#139
1962 had four total variations: two poses of Hal Reniff (pitching & portrait - one a green tint) and two poses of Ruth (one a green tint). For the record, Reniff is also #159. Fun, huh?
2011 has a Joba, a Ruth, a Jackie, and probably another Joba with a pose variation. And of course #159 is Joba.

#147
1962 was Bill Kunkel, who had a portrait and green tint pitching variation
2011 is Joakim Soria - the one on eBay is a portrait - if it exits, look for the matching green tint pitching variation
there is a confirmed pitching pose variation here, as evidenced by a completed red tint auction.

#174
1962 was Carl Willey, who could be found with and without a cap (yay, another green tint pose variation!)
2011 is Jon Garland - the one on eBay doesn't have a hat - if it exists, the variation should be a green tint "with hat"
Garland's tint variation is cropped slightly different. On the base card, none of the Dodgers script on the front of the jersey is visible. In the green tint, some of it is.

#176
1962 was Eddie Yost, who had a batting and portrait variation (one a green tint)
2011 is Chase Headley. The one on eBay shows him holding a bat - if it exists, the variation should be a green tint portrait
the tint variations still show him with bat on shoulder, but at a different angle, more of a side view

#190
1962 was Lee Walls, who had a portrait and a green tint batting pose
2011 is a shaggy-ass Todd Helton. The one on eBay is the portrait, which means a batting green tint might be out there.
confirmed frontal bat-on-shoulder variation

#192
1962 was another checklist card. There was a very subtle difference here. One said, "checklist, 3" and the other said, "checklist 3" (no comma)
2011 is the Marlins team card. Look for another subtle difference, I'd guess
#192 is the Marlins team card - like the #132 Angels team card, it has a simple green tint parallel

#458
1962 was Bob Buhl, who could be found with and without an "M" on his cap
2011 is SPed Ian Kennedy - look for a hat missing the Diamondbacks' "D"

#462
1962 was Willie Tasby, who again could be found with and without a "W" on his cap
2011 is SPed Magglie Ordonez - look for the same thing

edit: SPs are 426-500

I pulled the Soria in one of my cases. It's on eBay.

That color bar can be found in some form in almost every Topps release on regular card stock...going back to the '80s at least. They're just there as a visual to confirm the ink registry on any given sheet. Supposed to be culled, but some always slip though.
