2011 Topps Series 1 Wrapper Redemption Program

To launch and celebrate the 60th Anniversary of Topps Baseball Cards, the company is pleased to announce a special Hobby-Exclusive Wrapper Redemption Program for 2011 Topps Baseball Series 1.

Collectors sending Topps 36 Hobby wrappers or 10 HTA Jumbo wrappers of 2011 Topps Series 1 will receive a special 5-card pack of 60th Anniversary Black Diamond cards (collect all 60!).

In addition, Topps is seeding 34 different on-card Autograph cards (#’d to 60), featuring subjects from the original 1952 Topps set, into these 5-card packs.

These should again be of serious interest with the Topps set collectors. Those Diamond Anniversary autographs #/60 could bring some amazing return for those lucky enough to get them.

I do find it strange that Topps is feeling the need to add more value to even the base Topps issues, but anything that keeps base Topps from gathering dust on hobby shop shelves is a good thing I guess.

I remember the good old days of no new releases for months, I would be looking forward to base Topps hitting store shelves.

34 people * 60 each 2040 a LOT more then 2040 packs will be redeemed makes you wonder how many of each base card are going to be made

I also enjoy the timeliness of the announcement and the inclusion of a checklist!

Yes. After 2010 distributors are very cautious about how much they order from Topps.

As the calendar turns, however, this wrapper redemption suggests to me that Topps is up to the same old. Promise incentive that doesn't need to be produced until months after the actual product is released is crappy.

I don't see anyone whining about any of this. It's a great add across the board, and those autographs should be really expensive.

Perhaps, but I don't think Topps operates at that level anymore. Topps would help by not stranding hobby shops with unwanted product, product that releases post-World Series, product that sells for under cost online days after release, product that needs a bonus redemption added, or product that has an afterthought wrapper redemption added as incentive to buy.

Base Topps sells, no wrapper redemption necessary. The other stuff needs consideration.
