The jumbo idea would have been golden for the 2011 Draft class. Given how weak 2012 is, I still say this is a meh.

There was no need for Topps to reach into its bag of tricks last year, as the crop stood on its own.

This year's crop obviously needed a bit of a boost, and so Topps has added Jumbos, Ice parallels and more to its arsenal.

Yup, LOVE it. Jumbo takes SO much less time to open than hobby. I busted 40 cases of 2011 Draft and literally my fingers were almost bleeding towards the end from opening the packs. Jumbo is a life saver. Breaks quicker, a few more hits, slightly less initial sorting due to more cards in a pack. All good things.

At this point, I do have to question what the motivation is to make jumbo and hobby packs? I guess they're just trying to hit a pack price point for the LCS?

More people will open Jumbo than Hobby (look at 2012 Bowman) so any "good" cards that are inserted in Hobby will be less likely to be "found".

You can open your 40 Cases of Bowman Draft Jumbo and not have a chance at pulling the top card of the product.

I wish Topps would put exclusive inserts in Hobby to get people to open them. I have no idea why they load up Jumbo with special stuff when people are going to buy those anyway.

not looking good for Jumbo cases at good pricing

5 to 1 from what I am hearing is the allocation from topps

so for every 5 hobby cases shops are buying they are getting 1 jumbo

That was exactly my allocation...kinda disappointed because my Bowman regular/HTA ratio is better that 5/1.

I heard from another distributor that they are warning their customers that 2012 Draft may be watered down. Their reasoning is due to Topps making jumbos for first time, which means they will have to make more of the product, otherwise they would have to make less hobby to make up for jumbos (and Topps NEVER makes less than a product). Any thoughts on this?

Not sure but isn't there usually retail for this product and this year is hobby only? If that's true and they are limiting jumbos maybe it won't be so watered down.

If this was true, dealers would be getting a much better ratio then 5/1 on jumbos.

my LCS could only get 1 jumbo case. those case prices will be creeping up when the release gets closer.

just got quoted a crazy price, just think if this draft class was last years or even '08, what would these jumbos be at.

Bowman jumbos are $1500

Just for giggles, IF I got the allocation I requested and IF this price were to actually materialize then I'd be up over $30,000 in profit (IF I sold sealed instead of busted...which may be the biggest IF of all).

And I would be up over $15k..if as requested holds..

Nearly 4 months away still and I can hardly wait to crack these...(maybe sell them if I'm prudent..;)

damn, was hoping to get a few of these. Looks like I will pass, especially with this year's class. Its prob. better that way, so I can just put it all toward singles instead of splitting it between cases + singles.

Jumbo cases at $1500??? Well I certainly won't be touching any at that price. Guess we'll see where they settle at on ebay
