I would be pleased too. That's a great sell. It appears to me the market for NT has dipped dramatically. I sold a 1/1 of 3 HOF'ers last week for about half of what I would get for it.

The Ted Williams knob is on ebay now. There goes my ambition of purchasing the Red Sox anymore in future NT breaks.

$10k BIN.... why not make it $1mm BIN? I mean seriously... I have NO interest in this card but just think it's funny how some people put a redic BIN out there to fust field offers... when is eBay going to just make a setting where it's just a "taking offers" feature? It would clean up a lot of this stupid looking auctions IMO

Why would ebay limit what a person puts their merchandise up for? The more it sells for, the more they make. I put a card up recently that sells for roughly 350-400 dollars for 1999.99(it was a jersey numbered card). It was up for roughly a month when someone offered me 1,200. Obviously I took the offer, shipped the card and the buyer was happy as pie to get it. IMO the card belongs to the person whos selling it and they can ask whatever they want. If I don't like the price, I just move on to the next one. Lastly, it's a 1/1. Theres never anything wrong with putting something up high and seeing what type of offers you get on a 1/1.

How did you get from my comment that eBay should "limit" what a seller can put their merchandise up for? I'm simply saying that when you see an auction like this, the seller clearly is putting the BIN at a price that NO ONE will hit, so therefore is just fielding offers and that's OK in my book... I just think eBay should offer a setting where there is no BIN, just submit an offer if you like the item; that's all. Make sense? I'm just trying to get away from people putting stupid BINs on a card because they ONLY want to field offers and not worry about selling a card for a BIN that might not be top dollar.

Not trying to get into a battle with you here, just trying to be clear. I just wish eBay had a selling feature, like auction or BIN, where you can just field offers on an item and not have to put a BIN on it as well. That's all.

I'm saying what you consider "stupid" might seem like a good buy to someone else, or at least reasonably close to a good buy. You are saying he listed his card for to much and at the same time trying to say its "ok". I'm not sure I see a point in this other option you think would be a good idea besides a ton of people low balling constantly because you don't even give them an idea of what you think your card is worth.

OK, so I guess we just disagree that $10k is extremely too much for this card and he is clearly just fielding offers... you on the other hand think it's a fair BIN which has the chance to actually be hit....

OK, well I guess we'll have to agree to disagree here. I find it hard to believe ANYONE would hit the BIN on this card considering the Gehrig sold for $4k (less than half this much) and Mantle for $3.2k (less than a third as much). Then the Honus Wagner went unsold for $10k (same price), George Kelly unsold for $9k, Rogers Hornsby unsold for $7.5k, Joe Jackson unsold for $5k, Goose Goslin unsold for $5k, etc.

Here is a link to a thread we had here on FCB which had sales of bat knobs (http://www.freedomcardboard.com/for...ps-tier-one-bat-knob-sale-tracker-thread.html) I'll just let you go down the list and see for yourself... not one sold for more than $5k... highest was A-Rod for $5k, then DiMaggio for $4k, Mantle for $4k, Maris for $3k, Clemente for $3k...

Maybe someone could remind me but the Ruth Bat Knob sold for under $10k at auction...

Hopefully you see why $10k isn't even close to a price anyone would pay for this card... clearly the seller just wants to field offers, so IMO, let people just submit offers and not have to look at his stupid high BIN... again, just my opinion.

I'm talking in generalities about a multitude of cards. But, you're right, I don't think he's asking to much for his item. And seriously, 4k is less than half of 10k? Thank you for pointing that out to me :D! I'll be sure to list my Ted Williams 1/1 Bat Knob, if I was lucky enough to get one, for 20k. I'll be giddy watching people complain ad nauseum about how much I've over priced something that I own and that there's only 1 of.

Ted Williams knob posted......"01" is a team index Williams. May or may not be a gamer and if used not a guarantee that Teddy swung it, but was cut to his specs.

I guess all the talk about the Ted Williams knob has propelled the seller to auction it off. We'll know in a week what it will fetch.

For a whim and to see who wins it, I threw an offer on it and was immediately outbid..

Should be interesting to see what it goes for.. I am estimating that it sells for $2900

Now that's funny... Also smart on the sellers part. Basically market it for a day and then take to auction. I think that's the bet way to maximize value but SOME would disagree ;)

Years ago when EBAY was new.. I put up a Hideo Nomo Auto Patch card for $1M for a day to generate traffic.. back then when you listed an item, and then revised it, you would get money back if you lowered the item.. I think it was $20 to list it for the $1M.. then when I lowered it to a $0.99 listing, I got it all back except $0.03 for the original listing.. I sold it to a buyer in Japan for some nice $$$...
