Does anyone like this new format?I don't.

I'm about half and half on the new format.

Love that the second batter can stop when he has defeated the other one in his bracket.

Love the timeout that can be called in the middle of a 4 minute round. A quick drink and energy recharge for the big finish.

Hate that someone who hit has to go again quickly (Joc was screwed in the final because he did his final round hitting essentially right after he beat Pujols). I know MLB wants to force drama by Frazier going second, but Frazier should have gone first since he had the most rest. The rule should be tweaked for semifinals/finals in future derbys that the one with the most rest goes first so that someone like Joc can catch his breath and recharge the batteries a little bit between rounds.

Hate that the first one has to put out maximum effort to establish the score (i.e. can't shut it down and save energy knowing that the score is good enough like the second batter can).

Hate Chris Berman is still calling it and there were even moments when his on-air cohorts became lame running with a Berman schtick. Even hate ESPN this year for actually producing it after one of their lower third's during the derby. No **** sherlock that the HR derby this year featured the most homers since 2005. FOX and ESPN should switch off as I think ESPN has become quite complacent in their coverage and maybe some variety in broadcaster will spice things up for the viewer who watches year in and year out.

Hate the bonus round. I think 4 minutes was plenty of time to come up with a score.

Hate that you have to wait for a batted ball to land before taking the next shot. If someone wants to increase their batted ball totals per 4 minutes, let them go for it if they and their BP pitcher have the stamina!

Hate that Statcast was not as featured on the telecast as it should be. With all the sensors and immediate access to info, there should have been a lot more live-time statcast info on the screen than pretty much just the HR distance.

There were dozens of kids in the OF, if a flyball is in play and they are all looking up and chasing it, it would be tragic if any one of those players hit their next ball on a line drive into that group and seriously hurt or even worse anyone of those kids. That is why they were suppose to wait until the ump to the back and right of the catcher gave the go ahead to the pitcher to pitch.

New format is genius. Watching take after take was the equivalent to watching miss after miss in a dunk contest. Which sounds weird because we saw more "outs" but the rapid fire approach felt so much better.

What a pic here....

everyone is following the ball in hopes that it has enough but Frazier knows it's gone and is already celebrating.

The all star hats are sweet and I love the cardinals getting introduced

The actually game hats are absolutely hideous. The one color panel on the front and the two stripes thru the logos are an absolute eyesore. The batting practice hats are pretty nice thought with the red and black.

Thanks,
Jeff

I do, it keeps it moving. I hate watching them take 50 pitches.

on that note though, Pujols does not look good.

I heard a lot of positive comments last night.I did like that the derby was probably the most dramatic in a long time.Ratings were the best in a long time.So I may come around at some point.I just don't want to see pitchers having to work around clocks in games.Cincinatti is such a dead baseball town I think it was good that Frazier won.

Dead baseball town?

Down team, but you won't find 5 better baseball towns in the land. The birthplace of professional baseball.

Three of their absolute best all-timers...
Rose - Western Hills
Larkin - Moeller
Griffey - Moeller
...played HS ball in the city

No other town embraces mediocre talented players that get the absolute most out of their skill..
Rose
Sabo
Casey
Frazier

sorry for the rant.

No need to apologize, but every time I watch Reds games at their own park their stadium doesn't even look half full.Just has never seemed to be much energy at that park.Yes, I get they are bad, but still.Even early in the season I see a lot of empty seats there.I wasn't even talking about what high school their greats played at.
