My goals for 2024

1. Continue liquidating anything that's not part of my player collections
2. Add 2+ game-used items from any of my favorite players (Darin Erstad, Will Clark, Eddie Murray, Bucky Jacobsen, Aaron Kurcz, Stacey Augmon)
3. Send off a batch of cards to PSA for grading
4. Take better photos for sharing my collection on IG.
5. Add at least 1 Bucky Jacobsen card. I need 3 non-1/1 cards. Wanted: 2005 Topps Black /54.
6. Finish my 1998 Topps Tek base set for Darin Erstad. I am missing pattern 86. For my second set, I am missing a handful of patterns: 4, 12, 59, 64, 74, 86
7. Add at least 10 new Erstad cards. I need about 106 non-1/1 cards.

How 2023 went

1. Clear out all non-player collection cards and sell those to other player/team collectors
2. Have Aaron Kurcz sign the final 6 cards I need to complete my IP collection for his stuff
3. Submit 100+ cards to PSA
4. Continue selling off my Will Clark & Eddie Murray player collections :D
5. Sort and checklist my Stacey Augmon collection :D
6. Add at least 20 cards to my Darin Erstad collection. I only need about 125 non-1/1 cards. :D:D:D
7. Add at least 1 Bucky Jacobsen card. I need 3 non-1/1 cards. Want 2005 Topps Black /54. :D
8. Continue enjoying the hobby on my terms :)!

I added a game-used/signed Eddie Murray bat and a 1992 All-Star game-issued/signed bat by Will Clark.

I'll review my eBay account to see what key cards I added this year. It was a good year!

Added several 1998 Topps Tek Diffractors to my Darin Erstad collection. My progress is 20/90.

Added more 1999 Topps Tek Golds, including many doubles. I'm currently halfway done with the run at 30/60.

My son (9) has taken to cards this year. He's really into all basketball (especially Anthony Edwards) and Twins stuff in baseball. We attended his first trade night about a month ago. He loved it! It's been a lot of fun to share the collecting experience with him.

1. Find one of the William Shatner/Patrick Stewart dual auto I passed on 5 years ago for less than $300. Was $250 now $2K+. Still ticked about that one…

2. Now that they’ve gotten pretty much caught up, FINALLY send in my huge COMC inventory pile. Logging it and pricing will probably take weeks.

3. Get a really nice Christian Pulisic early or auto card.

4. Rip a lot less wax. Pretty sure I’ve posted that for last 2-3 years…🤣

EDIT: Just checked my ‘23 post. Had 3 of these on that list too…

Hopefully COMC runs another special. I did the 35 cent one recently and they took the full time to ingest everything. It was a few cards per day and then a giant block towards the end.

Wants --
1. Paul O'Neill -- add 10 non-Tek needs, getting my non 1/1 need list down under 40. Down to tougher ones, most locked up in collections.
2. Vintage -- add 15 needs from '52-'69, getting needs list down to 20. Pick up 1970 Munson RC graded. Upgrading a few haves along the way.
3. High End -- add 4 cards, combination of 1/1s, rookies, patches and autographs. Targeting one per quarter between waiting for cards to show up and gathering the funds.

Sell/Trade ---
1. Thin the trade box, have purchases from 2 years ago waiting to be listed. Long over due.
2. Curate the collection -- move what was once PC stuff now collecting dust.
3. Trade semi-PC towards PC needs. Trading has been halted last few years. Larger trades are harder to complete.

Hobby --
1. Card Shows -- targeting six on the year. Weekdays evening shows have worked well for me after work. Don't get to make to to weekends.
2. PSA Submission -- Have a few high-end cards for preservation and autographs for authentication. Would be my first in over a decade.
3. Organize -- Have my office set up, next step for me. Figure out what to display and how to do so.
4. Expand my horizon -- delve into pre-war players and sets. More about reading, researching and learning than buying.

2024 Goals - Some unchanged (I'm lookin at you Jeff Frye), some new

Jeff Frye - The needles in this haystack haven't changed unfortunately. They remained hidden another year making this list the same now for three years running.

Add five of these non 1/1 issues.

  10. 2023 Topps Pristine Black Pristine Refractors #299 SER# 1/1

Add 3 Printing Plates:
There are 31 plates I don't have but they aren't a big priority. I'm not a huge fan of plates so I only add them if I see them at a reasonable price.

Autograph Set Goals:

1998 Donruss Significant Signatures Master Set:
I've finished this set once, minus the two expired redemption cards, and sold it. I've rebuilt it again and would still love to have the redemptions so they stay on the list. I've actually built a third copy of this set in 2023 so I have two currently. I'd still love to add the unsigned redemption cards for Ozzie and Nolan though.
  1. Nolan Ryan Unsigned Redemption
  2. Ozzie Smith Unsigned Redemption
