Don't want to burst your bubble but when I bought one of my Mac balls from them a few weeks ago I specially asked them to make sure the mac ball didn't have any fading etc. He said every month they go through the wherehouse and for specially for item like my mac ball as the signing when he signed for them was back in 04. He said they take all yellowed, fading and smudged balls and discount them for sales like this.

If you don't mind those kind of defaults then you made out great. But if you are a picky perfectionist like myself then you just wasted a hundo

But you never know, if 1 is perfect you will make out like bandit.

Good Luck !!

Collectors like you are a minority. Most of us aren't as picky. This isn't an insult to you, as you are free to collect any way you want, and I respect the attention to detail. However, most are fine with a minor flaw on a baseball.

I'd beg to differ although I do understand why you might think that. I didn't use to care either. To me...having the auto was all that mattered. But a lot of card collectors don't collect autographed memorabilia. Once you start doing IP signings and paying to get autos at events...you start to get really picky. I've gotten what I would term some crappy autos at IP events. And when you get the chance to get a mega star for free...its wonderful. But when your auto comes out like crap compared to the next guy's...say the marker ran dry or the ink got smudged or the ink ran or bleeds...you do get a little frustrated. You had the chance to get a guy who might have cost you a couple of hundred dollars for free and the auto comes out terrible. It blows.

So once you reach that plateau, anything you pay for must be perfect. Because you start saying to yourself...if I got player x to sign for free, it came out perfect, and it would normally cost me $200 to get him...why am I paying $100 for player y and the auto is crappy? It messes with you a little bit. Its not the end of the world but it does bother you.

So to autograph collectors, it does matter. It's the reason I didn't bite on this deal. Some of you got real beauties for your money. That is great. But I couldn't chance it. I'd rather pay $150 and get a nice juicey auto with no visible defects.

Here are the auto's. All three are clean and not smudged. The balls are snow white OMLB Selig baseballs:

Here are the same baseballs, each turned to show their "imperfections". Note that my camera is crap, so the glares or shadows are from my horrible photo taking skills. Each has one oil spot, that's all:

Two are available, please PM me...

I can't agree more.
Try telling a prospector who buys a gold refractor auto rc of "the player" with chipping around the whole card to be happy he got an auto!
If you collect baseballs you go for the best. As with graded RC's the better the example the more valuable it is.
Check on ebay for faded and damaged autographed baseballs, you can't give them away. (Unless its a new collector
just starting out.) Some of these balls the members got are a steal with minor stains, but others I would not even keep as a gift.

That is in no way similar to this deal. Everyone here knew they were listed as deep discounted imperfections. At $49 (after tax/shipping), it makes me happy to see these conditions. And it's not like anyone here was buying in hopes of them being perfect. As far as "knowing they are more valuable" - sure, but what good is value - be it $1 or $1000000 - if I plan on never selling it?

A better example with the gold refractor would be selling one advertised with noticeable damage. Obviously, someone buying it would know they were subject to chipping prior to purchasing the card (at a fraction of the cost BTW).

I don't see why so many people are hating on this deal. In the long run, the "damage" to these balls is on par to what you'd expect to happen over time anyway.

I'm not hating on the deal....

A better example is if I came into the room with a Montero Blue refractor with a big crease down the middle and said "look guys I got this great card for only $300" (I know nothing about prospecting or whos hot, nor do I pretend too). I am sure the prospectors, flippers, graders, etc.. would say they would not pay $25 for that card. Why? its still a Montero refractor and I love it! To each there own. Steiner knows the market VERY well. If they thought they could get more for the balls they would...

Those don't look bad at all.

I'm considering getting a Schilling and Ortiz (both imperfect) for $19.99 each.

I got my three Aaron balls the other day. Two are pretty nice with a couple of small oil stains. The third ball is perfect from what I can tell. I've looked it over 4-5 times and see NOTHING wrong with it. I'll easily be able to sell the two and make a little money, maybe 20 bucks, and get to keep my ball for free. For anyone who hasn't ordered any or hasn't gotten theirs yet the COA's state they are imperfect. So, you won't be able to sell them as anything but that even if one comes perfect(like one of mine did). Just a "so you know" comment. I'm VERY happy with my purchase.

Thats why you see the old
"sticker is on the ball, but I lost the COA" on eBay....

When I went to Steiners site, I had to sign in and they sent me a 10% off code. I used it to pick up a Schilling ball....it came today and has a fairly large imperfection on top of the ball. It's not near the auto, so I don't care. For $25 dlvd, I had to take the chance.

I was about to buy one with the 20% discount, but my money is in my Paypal account and I don't have a Paypal debit card anymore. Oh well :/
