[h=3]Stand and Deliver[/h] This 24-card set is broken into six separate four-card groupings and was part of a contest. Groups contain players from the following teams: 1-4 (Braves), 5-8 (Mariners), 9-12 (Yankees), 13-16 (Dodgers), 17-20 (Indians) and 21-24 (Wild Card). The four players featured within the Wild Card group are from "lesser" teams whom Pinnacle Brands thought had no shot at winning the 1997 World Series. Since the Florida Marlins won the World Series, the four Wild Cards wound up being the winning cards.
Hobbyists who held all four cards of the 1997 World Series Champion (or the four Wild Cards if one of the five selected teams did not win) could mail them to Pinnacle for a special Gold version of the set. Gold Stand and Deliver was limited to 275 sets and came encased in a glass frame. Because of the unusual distribution, Gold Stand and Deliver singles are difficult to find. The gold cards came in two different flavors, gold with silver letters and gold with red letters. The gold with red letters version is extremely rare.
All 24 cards come in 3 versions:
Silver with gold letters
Gold with silver letters (rare as only 225 sets were produced)
Gold with red letters (extremely rare, print run is unknown)
1 Andruw Jones
2 Greg Maddux

4 John Smoltz
5 Ken Griffey, Jr.
6 Alex Rodriguez
7 Jay Buhner
8 Randy Johnson
9 Derek Jeter
10 Andy Pettitte

12 Mariano Rivera
13 Mike Piazza
14 Hideo Nomo

17 Manny Ramirez
18 Jim Thome
19 Dave Justice
20 Matt Williams
21 Juan Gonzalez
22 Jeff Bagwell
23 Cal Ripken, Jr.
24 Frank Thomas

[h=3]Jumbos[/h] These four over-sized cards were issued as box-toppers in specially marked Blaster boxes. Each jumbo card measures 5" X 7".
1 Derek Jeter
2 Mike Piazza
3 Cal Ripken, Jr.
4 Alex Rodriguez

[h=3]Andruw Jones Blister Card[/h] This card of Andruw Jones was always inserted on the top of pre-priced 1997 Score Series Two blister packs. The backs carry a "Thank you for buying Score Baseball Series II" sentence with a list and description of insert sets found. The rules for the Stand and Deliver Promotion rounded out the backs.

the info I posted, I didnt get off Beckett

That's nearly word-for-word from the yearly Beckett, someone from baseballcardpedia just paraphrased it slightly. It's too bad they're using Beckett as a template, a lot of inaccurate info is going to make their way onto their site, when they have the chance to set the record straight on things like this.

I thought I would restart this thread with a few promos and samples I found while cleaning out boxes I havnt looked through since I closed my card shop 9 years ago. Nothing huge but cool IMO. I know this is the baseball boards but the Montana SPX promos was a tough one back then and pretty cool.

Not meant to be spam but these are available.

You Make the Play

On card from this 90-card set was inserted into each Series One pack. Forty-five players are featured on two different cards. The cards measure just about the standard-size but have rounded corners and were meant to be played as part of a game.
In addition to being inserted into packs, dealers also were offered extra You Make the Play cards depending on how many cases ordered. A dealer who ordered one case received two 12-card packs of these cards for a total of 24 cards. Meanwhile, a dealer who ordered two cases received six 12-card packs for a total of 72 packs.
Customers could also receive 12 of these cards by sending 10 wrappers and $2 to an a mail-in order. This offer expired on May 15, 1996.
This set is also available in a Gold Signature parallel.

So, is the Bags legit or not? How would we know it's a promo I guess is what I'm asking.

So after giving predator my info on the 95 Leaf promo cards, I decided to share my info with the rest of the group. Here is a side by side comparison of my Bagwell promo, with the differences between the promo and the base card. I hope this info helps others out there trying to see a difference in their promos.

The first thing i notice is the left side of the card. Im hoping its not bad scanning on my part, but it looks like the promo card has more of the baseball diamond showing, where the regular issue has trimmed the third base area.

The second has less foil on the 95 Leaf logo itself on the promo, more gold foil on the regular.

The third is the Registered R. Clearly further away from the gold on the promo. But with the image shift, it doesnt look too different on Baggy's arm. But the placement of the entire Baseball Diamond inset is in question. look at the gap between the mlb logo on his shoulder and the first base line of the diamond. Total gap on the promo.

I really hope this clears things up for you. If the R doesnt do it, that gap should. LMK

Nate

Heres what im talking about...

There is a seller on eBay currently with some 1989 Topps Heads Up test issue wrappers. I had never seen them before, and thought it was cool that the back checklist shows the heads of the rare 89 prototypes. Grace was one of the 12 that was in the test issue, but not in the 1990 mainstream release. He's listed a few wrappers and they've gone largely unnoticed (got mine for $1.75), but I see his latest listing is up to $6.99 starting price. If you have a 1989 test issue in your collection, one of these wrappers would make a nice companion piece.
