A case study on why I hate being a completist

This is a football card, but the sport is irrelevant. 

As some of you know, I'm a Vince Young fan. I recently made a goal to collect every card of his featuring him in a Longhorns uniform. Including cards I'd never buy otherwise, like sticker autos. 

I was reminded why I hate doing this tonight

I won this for $47.88

It's numbered to 10. I was scared if I didn't buy it, I'd never see it again

I display most of my higher end cards. Especially UT cards (I have an entire wall of Horns memorabilia). There is NO WAY IN HELL I'd display a card picturing a damned Sooner in my Longhorn collection. It's akin to a Yankees fan displaying a Jeter/Ortiz card. 

So I just paid $50 for a card that will go in to a box in my closet that I'll never see. Lesson learned

my ocd leads me to having a really difficult time collecting raw cards.

I went to Texas after TTU...for one semester. Didn't graduate. But I went to UT

So yeah, Jeff, I have "street cred."

I also spent the my childhood going to every football game and a lot of baseball and basketball games. My parents went to UT. My mom dated Tommy Nobis in '63

That is why I try to never worry too much about having only cards or anything of my favorite team. My favorite team is the Texans and my favorite college team is UT but I will always be willing to add something to my collection if its worth having. I'd consider an AP worth having. He is one of the best running backs in the league. Hell...I have my Graham Harrell auto'd Texas Tech mini sitting right next to my Colt McCoy auto'd mini and I actually have an authentic NFL football signed by Peterson sitting right underneath an authentic signed by VY. I won't cut one out to have the other. I also plan on attending Tristar in June and getting Ray Childress on some A&M stuff.
