[quote="mnvikingstwins":1dt5yifd]I know Nick said not to say the answer, but the answer was: Send in the card that is coveted most, he's only a rookie, but sells like a pro.

So you had to spend $300 on a Strasburg to crack the code?

Haha, no he was playing on that answer...I will give a few more clues:

Jeter (or the Yankees) had nothing to do with it...although I'm still confused as to how you leave the most popular player in baseball (arguably) out of the base set.

Having the Celestial Stars cards (or analyzing the backs) have nothing to do with it.

None of the sailors have anything to do with it.

I'm shocked that no one in this thread came up with the code I gave in the earlier post.

What else do you want to know without me just giving away the answer??
I second the shocking, with all the time I spent on it, if I bought a case, I could have solved it 10 times
Yeah but you didn't even solve it once....
I know the answer now, and how easy it was[/quote:1dt5yifd]
You know it because someone told you. Congrats?

I wish I had kept checking on this forum. I looked all over the internet for codebreaking discussion on the 3rd and then I got caught up in other things for a while. I emailed Topps and got the 401 character code probably on the 5th, but never checked back here, could have collaborated with a few of you guys dammit.

Wait so how did people know to email topps?

You just send them an email and they email you back the code to decipher?

Those random code cards that come in packs with the guy sitting at the desk, basically promoting the codebreaker aspect of the set. On the back of the card it says to email topps at code@topps.com, but upon first glance it makes you think to just email that address the answer. But you can send that email any kind of email and you will get an automated reply with that code.

Now what kind of bs is this from Topps? So, we could've had the damn code from day 1?!?

You need a lot more than just that to crack the code...

So since apparently multiple people have cracked the code, can you really still not say anything about it? I'm at the point where I just want to see where I wasn't getting it.

Just continue to jack off this guy's ego, maybe at some point he'll spit out the code.

Lol, as soon as Topps makes it official (whether I was the first or not), I'll tell you everything you want to know...I don't see what's so wrong with that!

Seriously people, chill. If you knew the code, but nothing was 'official', you wouldn't be comfortable sharing anything, either. In the 'real world', outside of our message boards and blogs, not many people are impressed with cracking a hidden code hidden among a bunch of baseball cards :) There are no egos to be jacked off here.

+1.

I'd also imagine explaining it takes quite a bit of effort to show us the answer. I remember last year the explanation was a LOT of scrolling, and it'll be similar this year. My point is people are asking for the answer, but the answer is not what you want. You want to know how the answer was derived, and that takes a lot of effort. Effort that doesn't need to be put forth into the public until the code is no longer "secret", according to Topps.

Does anything in the email have hints on how to solve the code? Like is "The Ginter Code" or "The Codemaster" an anagram on how to solve the code?

I don't have any of the cards, so that's pretty fail, I'm just bored and curious. Codes like this are fun to try and solve, but I'm guessing having the cards would make it easier.

Does:

LPPHEBBPC__FOBQEVTQER....

mean anything?

does the fact that there are no Z's and X's in the code, leaving us with 24 letters (which is 12 x 2, there being 12 months in a year) have to do with anything?

No and no. I will try and put up another solution blog like last year's this weekend...

I'm absolutely just trolling for more clues...that was my last attempt. I look forward to seeing how the solution was reached! :D

Topps finally changed the auto response on code@topps.com to:

"The 2010 Ginter Code has been cracked! Thanks for participating."

I've been working on the solution guide today and will probably finish it tomorrow.
