Adam Dunn might hit 600 HR, would he make the HOF?

I find it laughable that you think getting on base 37% of time is not something to look at. So you are saying if he didn't walk a lot and hit .333 for his career and had an OBP of .370....THEN he would be a HOF?

What does it matter how you get on base via the walk or the hit? you are giving your team a better chance to score a run.
With Dunn on base? LOL

A hit is always better than a walk. And Dunn doesn't get many hits. Walking does NOT make up for how many times he strikes out (which is the worst thing a batter can do)

Probably because as players age, their overall production declines.

It happens.

Except for Benjamin Jeter, who seems to be aging backwards.

Averaging 36 HR and attaining 36 HR for 6 years at the end of your career are two totally different things.
He also needs to play close to 160 games to hit ~40.
His 162 game avg is .242, 38, 97.
He's not like Bautista, who can take April off and still lead the majors in HR by the AS break.

Nice! It has been a while since we've had a Dunn HOF thread.

I don't think he gets in, because I don't think he gets 600 HRs. If he gets there, it will be hard to deny him, but I do think that's a big if.

So you are saying a single is better than a walk?

YES The greatest ever!!! His hitting SUCKED!

Again, you are ignoring half the game.

There should be no pitchers in the HOF then. If their success is just batter failures, how can their stats count for anything?

1. You are assuming he will finish this year with 31 HR? You don't think he'll hit 40 HR this year?

2. Look at my stats above, even with his 11 Hr season last year, he AVERAGED 36+ HR a year...what makes you so sure he can't get 200 HR in 6-7 years? Why does it have to be 5 years? Has he said he's going to retire at 37 or something?
Dunn averages about 5 strikeouts for every HR he hits. If he hits 600 HRs he will have at least 3,000 strikeouts. Does that scream HOF to you? For a pitcher maybe.....LOL!

Sure why not? 563 HR and 2600 K's got someone into the HOF....why can't 600 HR and 3000 K? Especially when very few have hit 600 HR.

Is this a serious question????

Yes, duh!

For example, man on 3rd....single>>>RBI! Walk? Not so much. The only time a walk scores a run is if the bases are loaded but a single with the bases loaded has a chance to knock in 3 runs.

I can't believe you think that a single = a walk!

This debate would be more fun for me if Dunn had 500 or 550 HR or something...I'm kinda bored with this though b/c he actually has to hit 200 more HR...which I think he can easily do.

Either way, good luck to him.

Because Reggie Jackson is one of the best postseason players of all time, with 4 WS rings and and MVP. Can Adam Dunn say the same?

And home runs are better than singles.

So you are saying that Reggie Jackson got in solely on his performance in the postseason? B/c Adam Dunn could very well have more HR, higher OBP, higher SLG, and of course higher OPS than Reggie when he retires.

It's not Adam Dunn's fault he didn't play for the Athletics and Yankees. of the 70's.

His 37% OBP ranks him 229 all-time.

Wow

I'm utterly amazed how great Dunn is. Thanks for opening my eyes.

Hank Aarons is .3739, 221 all time.
A guy with over 700 career HRs.
