sure it is, koufax autos are pretty darn rare and sell for quite a bit

scratch that, is that the new sterling, maybe Id take that then even if the values dont match which they probably dont (ripken more)

I was talking which Id rather have.

No scan of Ripken b/c it isnt mine. But I am guessing that there will be multiple 1/1s in Sterling like past years...

Here is Koufax...

That's as sweet as you can get for a Sandy on card auto, I would have to take the Sandy, there will be multiple 1/1 made on the Ripken sterling patch, Sandy's early auto is really hard to come by..

I'd do the trade. Even if you decide that you'd rather have the Koufax, you should be able to sell the Ripken, buy another Koufax and have a little profit left over. I've picked up these Koufaxs for under $120 so I have to think that the Ripken would go for more.

If you decide not to do it, let me know and I'll trade one of my Koufax Donruss SIg Autos for it if the patch is nice.

I picked the Ripken because I think it would sell for more. That Koufax auto is the easiest one to get, as a lot were backdoored from Donruss. A few years ago when I was trying to put together the set that one was readily available for less than $150. The other Koufax from that set is nicer looking and harder to find, even though I think the print runs are the same. It looks like the Koufax sells for about $130 based upon past Ebay sales. A 2006 Sterling Ripken auto 1/1 sold for a $300 best offer, so there's really no question that I'd pick the Ripken.

EDIT- For some reason I thought the Ripken patch was autographed, which influenced my decision. Now they seem a lot closer in price.

LOL

Dont you agree?
Nope, that's assuming they sell the same. Ripken = Many many patches and multiple 1/1's from that set whereas Koufax autos [ON CARD] = Pretty hard to come by. Gimme the rare nice looking HOF auto over the "1/1" HOF patch anyday. JMO

And btw it is close....more people voted for the Koufax. ;)

I voted for the Auto. However, after reading mrwhitesox30's post, I'd take the 1/1. Here's why: You could trade the Sandy for the 1/1. Put the 1/1 on the bay for a quick and nice flip. Buy back a Sandy and pocket $150-$200.

If you are looking sv I think the answer should be clear based on the posts above (despite the fact the voting shows otherwise.)

I don't see a good example of a Ripken patch 1/1 sale, but a Rip auto/patch sells in the 300 range. So I can't imagine just a patch would go for more than 150. And that Koufax only sells in the 120-160 range from what I see. Seems like a wash. I don't think you could flip the Ripken for much profit.
