Oh Canada......
Alright this is just my opinion.... a 20 year old kid that has 14 wins and has taken over as the teams third starter in his second year.... deserves to be the ROY.

Has been very clutch for the Tigers in there quest for the AL Central, has got better and better as the year has went on.

Am I being bias?... ofcourse, but I see him as the obvious choice.

If Porcello wins Game 163 in the Metrodome he may just pull enough votes to be the ROY.

Agree, I've said all along that if any of the big rookie starters (at the time they were Niemann, Romero and Porcello) get to 15 wins, then they would win.

Two things that I think would guarantee Porcello the ROY Award:

#1 Getting his ERA under 4.00 (I think he's at like 4.04 right now?)
#2 Notching his 15th win of the year...in a huge pressure situation.

Likewise, if he loses this game on Tuesday, I don't know if I like his chances to win ROY.

I think he still did enough. Three great starts against the Twins down the stretch is huge for Detroit, even though the offense/bullpen didn't support him enough to get him a win in any of those three.

I'll be very surprised if Porcello doesn't win this after an exceptional start in a game as big as tonight's was, despite the fact that he didn't get the W. There was hardly anything else he could have done.

I hope Porcello gets it, he deserves it. Also, on the flipside I don't really see it helping his cards much since usually a big time lights out performance like tonight would boost a guy for a night and no action really on his stuff that I have noticed.

Guys, Rick was good tonight, But 2 ER in 5 2/3 is NOT a dominating perfromance. Not enough to pull votes, and NOT enough to pump up card prices....

Just my opinion

I agree, although I have noticed some upward action already on some of his stuff (I was outbid when my snipes should have easily landed me both cards based on previous ending prices of similar items).

Still wish the Tigers had made the playoffs so we could watch him in the postseason, but I think that Porcello continued to get better down the stretch when other ROY contenders seemed to fall off the table.

It was 2 runs but only 1 ER.

And then if you throw in 8 Ks and the fact that he left the game with the lead I'd say it was a pretty strong performance. It wasn't just tonight that should win the ROY for him, it was the whole season, and especially his dominance down the stretch run despite the fact that the offense and bullpen didn't support him very well at all over that time period.

Ok, 1 Er, but the other run was HIS FAULT by throwing away a pick off. Still on the hook for that run in my eyes.

Again, he threw well, I was impressed. But I wouldn't use the words "dominating" or "exceptional" because I don't think it was either of those things.

For the sake of alot of board members, I am rooting for Porcello to win the R.O.Y., I don't really have a rooting interst outside of him.

Yeah I hear ya, and obviously the reason he left the game was because he got himself into a little jam. Having watched him all year, 8 Ks is a pretty good start for him especially with only 1 ER (or 2 depending on how you want to look at it).

I think the big thing for him is that he delivered for his team down the stretch in clutch situations...at the same time as the other top ROY candidates were kinda falling back to earth.
