I think Albert was going to throw behind Kinsler at third. From the one angle Fox showed, he took a very, very big turn around third even though the third base coach had the stop sign up early. If he catches it and fires to third they have a good chance to get Kinsler. Freese was standing right on third waiting for a throw.

I don't care. I take it as Albert knowing he ****** up and not wanting to hear more of it.

I don't blame Pujols much either, I think he thought Kinsler was coming home with that big turn.

He should have stayed and talked to the media.

He watched that damn ball right into the glove too, and just missed it.

I couldn't watch last night because I had to work 12 hours, they lost, and I didn't even bother watching it on DVR. I watched the E:60 piece on Scott Hall instead.

Sam,

To be honest I thought you would defend your first baseman but I give you credit for saying what you did. Its nice to see a fan admit to screw ups by his favorite team and player!! As someone with very close ties to the Cubs.......if this happened to them they would have blamed someone else!!

Did everyone here miss the fact that Yadi, Berkman and Holliday also left? Does anyone know if these 4 vets already talked to their team mates?? MUCH TO DO ABOUT NOTHING....

Cant blame the loss of a game on one player. But aside the error that he did what about the fact he has not a hit yet in the world series?

Obviously it was a big play in the game. Personally I think everyone should stick around. However, I do not know the entire story. He may have had to leave due to a family situation. It is ok to give people the benefit of the doubt.

For the record I do not see any comparison between Albert leaving early and Nyjer's antics.

Actually Jay's poor throw and Albert's lack of hustle to get the bad throw allowed the winning run to eventually score. The big bats were also 1-10 in the game, no good. Motte should have never allowed the hits, but he did. Cards could have won 1-0 but did not. Albert should have stayed, but did not.

Time to play Game 3, get a win, and put everything behind the team.

How do you know he didnt address his teammates? Most of these guys could care less about what is and isnt said in the media.

It doesn't matter if he addressed his teammates. He didn't owe them an explanation -- he owed them the common courtesy of taking questions from the media about HIS ERROR so that they didn't have to answer for it. He needed to face the media. You don't screw up and then leave your teammates to explain it for you. That's not being a good teammate. Instead, guys like Furcal had to stand and be asked to explain Pujols' error.

You are incredibly naive if you think it isn't a big deal in a clubhouse when a guy effs up and then leaves without talking to the media. He may not have wanted to stand in front of the media and take the questions, but he owed it to his teammates to do so. It is part of the job.

Everybody, not just the superstar, is expected to do it. Even starting pitchers who get lit up and knocked out in the 2nd inning stick around until after the game to talk to the media. That's the way it works.
They would have had to answer those questions regardless of weather he talked or not.

No, they wouldn't have.[/quote:1eq8vcix]

Actually, yes they would have. Every damn post game interview after a loss features the same questions for all the players. If one guy screwed up, they aren't going to ask another guy about the good things he personally did. They are going over there to get a reaction about the bonehead play. You know why? Because they are hoping beyond hope that someone is still seething and might screw up and let it slip out. Then, when that happens, they can have at least 3 months worth of BS to write about long after everyone forgets who even won the world series. News media is attracted to drama. Good drama and bad drama. If the Cards lost, it's bad drama. Hell...half the time, even if it's a good plain old clean loss, the media will try to insinuate stuff just to piss somebody off into saying something. It's pretty sad. Even sader than the boring generic "derek jeter" type answers we get from the players. That is the reason they never tell us what they really think. It would become a bigger deal than the game itself.
