Not sure why they didn't put a retractable roof on Yankee
Stadium??

Why?

Because a retractable roof is an eyesore, plus you need about 25% more land in order to do it.

Yankee Stadium was designed to MAKE THE STEINBRENNER GROUP AS MUCH MONEY AS POSSIBLE. A Roof would have COST MORE MONEY.

Fixed it for You!

Wow...a whole page and a half before someone complains about Yankees and money.

You really think the reason a roof wasn't put on was money?

You do realize Yankee Stadium cost $1.5m. Citi Field, only $600m.

Cost was not an issue. If the Yankees wanted to put a roof on the stadium they would have totally redesigned and named it "Exxon/Mobil Stadium"

Oh, I know.

I was trying to make light of someone actually suggesting they put a roof of any kind on the Stadium. I think the whole point of every stadium built the last 15 years is to make it baseball-only and Outside w/ real grass.

It's probably Costanza's fault anyway. They gotta save up to pay his secretary her raise anyway...

I think all new parks should have retractable roofs.. Why would this be a bad thing?
They retract so when the sun is shining its open when its raining its closed??

It gets unbearably hot in St. Louis. So hot you are drenched while sitting in the sun. It can be very miserable.

But there is NO WAY a retractable roof should have even been thought of when designing the new Busch, and thank God it doesn't have one. Baseball is meant to be played out doors.

If I lived in Tampa, the only time I'd ever go to a game would be if the Yankees were in town, or the Cardinals had an interleague series.

Domes and retractable stadiums are for wussies. For football and baseball. And this is coming from a Rams fan.

Isn't this beautiful?

Very Early proposal for a new stadium for the Mets.

Not only does a Retractable roof add a ton of cost, but they are ugly. As I stated early, you need a consideribly larger plot of land to house the roof.

The game is postponed? ugh.

Detroit having all five starting pitchers on the roster looks like a genius idea now. A.J. Burnett might have to star after all now.

That's what they get for starting a game at 8:30 pm! It should have started at the normal evening game time.

VW, wasn't the plan for a retractable roof at Citi dependent on them winning the Olympics bid?

For an Olympic venue, I can see it, but for baseball, no thanks! :)

And a delay hurts the Yanks alot more than Detroit IMO and brings Verlander back into play for Game 4...

I don't see what you mean.

There is no change that I can see other than the fact there is no off day.

Sabathia will come back on short rest guaranteed.

The Yankees do have a very slight advantage in the fact that they have recorded three more outs and will bat first tomorrow at home. Other than that...

Oh, I know CC will come back on short rest but losing his full start is a big impact IMO...

The thought of Brad Penny pitching for us (would likely be in game 5, too) makes me want to vomit. Brad Penny shouldn't even have sniffed the postseason roster for us.

Watching shows like MLB Network, I can't understand the train of thought from the analysts. They ask "when would you bring back CC or Verlander?"

It doesn't matter if you bring them back in game 2, they can't go in game 5 on 2 days rest. So why wouldn't they do exactly what they are doing, by bringing back CC or Verlander no earlier than game 3. The last thing I want is to not get a good start from CC or Verlander. So bring them back in game 3. Bringing them back in game 2 does you nothing.

For instance, CC was talking in his press conference about wanting to pitch as much as he can. Earth to CC, you are only going to be pitching once in the series.

I know you can't predict rain, but I wonder if tonight was a major screwup to start the game with awesome SP's like Sabathia and Verlander going if you would have knowledge that the probability of precipitation was high. Seems like a big waste to get the game going only to lose these two guys pretty quickly. OTOH, it makes for good strategy to figure out when to bring them back.

No you can blame these morons that are called weather forecasters. These doushes predicted no rain until after midnight on the train ride down there. They have been wrong all summer and no looks like they are f'ing up fall as well.

Could you imagine a Game 5 with Brad Penny VS A.J. Burnett? Anyway, advantage Yankees today, don't forget the Tigers have a line-up set up for a lefty. Inge for sure will be taken out for Betemit.

Looks to be a pitchers duel-with both Nova and Fister locked in. Should be interesting to see who can get on the board first.

Great decision by Gene Lamont to send Alex Avila home with 1 out there. He wasn't even to 3rd by the time Granderson had the ball.
