I am expecting a Glen Perkins opening day RC au to come in any day now. I am sending it right back out to BGS probably...
What started you man crush on Perkins?

Born in MN
Played for Gophers
Drafted by Twins.

Simple as that... He is not my favorite player, but it's a helluva lot cheaper than buying up Josh Hamilton stuff...

There is Derek McAllum, and Nate Hanson (and someone else too...) in recent years, but Perk has the most stuff and his stuff is cheap. I have maybe put $100-$150 into my collection and it is pretty big. I spent $10 yestereday and got 3 Ft. Myers cards (one of which is signed) and about 30 other base cards. I am expecting a 2009 Bowman Chrome Blue Refractor to come in, and the Opening Day auto.

I do know he is a big jerk, but hopefully he turns it around. I hope to meet him at TwinsFest. I am going to buy a GU jersey before meeting him and maybe he will see he is lucky to have a fan and he might be a little nicer (kinda a throw to home in the dark). IDK what I am going to have him sign yet... probably just a card or a ball.

I don't expect him to do any better than he is now, so I don't plan on making retirement on my collection, and I am putting in WAY more money than it will be worth with all of the slabbing and autograph authentication... but it keeps me occupied. For years I aimlessly collected whatever was out there, and if I can pool my funds together into a player collection, then when I am all said and done, I will be happier knowing that I accomplished something.

I agree with the last part you said. All I did was collect the Topps sets and buy random packs to try and get something cool. Since I realized that I spent a lot of my money and didn't have too much to show for it I decided to start a player collection as well. I also have been picking up Twins prospects too. Although the packs and blasters I opened were a lot of fun, this way I'm getting a lot of nice stuff, while still buying the occasional blaster. I'm not really rich enough to afford hobby stuff so I do what I can with what I have.

Busting is fun but when the base cards pile up, it gets to be too much. I can't afford much hobby either, but I did just order a box of 2008 TriStar ProJections high series to try and get some TTM bait.

I need to start picking up Twins Prospects too... for TwinsFest...

I used to collect Robert Meachem but a lot more people have been going after him since he had a decent year, so I retreated to Perkins. I haven't found anyone else who collects him, but he has plenty of things out there. Plus it helps when the 2008 Co-Signers Tri-Signers auto has Perkins on it, that way it lowers the price of the Morneau and the Liriano

When I was back in Minnesota a couple months ago. Ridgedale Pro Shop had Perkins gamer. Think it was $200. I'm sure once he is gone from Twins it will drop $150 or less.

Twins fan base has gotten rather big. It's amazing all the Twins gear you see nowadays walking through the Twin Cities.

I saw Twins at Fenway in late May. Lots of Twins were at game. Was wearing Twins T-Shirt had all kind of first pounds with Minny fans. Even saw a few at Pawsox-Red Wings game.

I posted this on another thread but it probably fits better here-

Just a heads up to anyone buying tickets for the Twins games that are for the Budweiser rooftop- if your ticket has a letter in the row column it is standing room only if it has a number in the row column it is an actual seat. Found that out personally friday nite.

Also Ben Revere is ahead of schedule in his rehab and will likely play the last 10 games of the season in the minors.

$150 at TwinsFest. As long as they hold him until then, after that he can leave. I won't collect anything of him in another jersey (unless Washington wants him).

So gardy left CP in to give up 15 hits? Oh well if your going to lose, might as well lose big.

Busted a box of 2008 ProJections and got a Bromberg base, I can know Bromberg off the list of cards for TwinsFest IP!

Any Gardy hints yet at who Sept call ups will be?
I would guess Wicked Nick for sure, along with Slama. I would think Pat gets another chance or is gardy still pissed about him tweeting? Any word on Dinkelman, he has done well of late and would be nice to see him get a shot at show.

I think they're gonna call up Jacque Jones, I can't wait to see him in the bigs again.

Happy with the win tonight, I hope the Twins keep at 20 games above .500 or more the rest of the season. The way we've been playing of late there is a chance to get at 100 wins, but they've gotta keep playing at this level.

It will be interesting. I don't think JJ or the Dink are on 40 man roster. So they would have to drop someone if they get Sept call ups? You have to be put on the 40 man I believe. Same with B Harris.

In september, don't they expand the roster?

Yeah, but to be put on MLB roster I'm pretty sure you also have to be put on the teams 40 man roster. Even September call ups.

Trust me, one of the best moments in baseball is looking down into the batting circle to see none other than Jones standing there, and then standing up for him as he strut to the plate. It still gives me chills... as soon as whoever got on/out, I immediately rose and applauded along with thousands of other Twins fans (and a few Cardinal fans).

Wicked Nick is back. I hope he regains his stuff, he has been a money pitcher down strech before. Baker looked good tonight.

I hope Dink gets called up. He's from my hometown (well, he's really from Irvington, IL, but went to the same high school, so close enough to be a hometown boy!)

Anyway...got two recent purchases in the mail today. So excited to finally add two new "Circle G" Gary Gaetti autos.

Love the 89 Score. It really pops in hand. That puts me at 37 cards with the "Circle G" auto, plus other items, balls, etc. (48 in all!) closing in on 50!
