Found this to be pretty funny. Not funny like laughing funny but funny as in crazy.

Right-hander Waldis Joaquin, a fellow Dominican who played with Villalona at low-Class A Augusta last season, didn't address his former teammate's case specifically. But Joaquin pointed out that in his country, people occasionally shoot first and answer questions later if they're being hassled by a group.

"Maybe if you have five people in one fight, you don't want to leave, and if you have a gun, you [fire it]," Joaquin said.

And yeah...PR and DR can be pretty bad in some places.Different mindset down there. My wife has been to PR several times(she is half PR and half Mexican and has family that lives in PR and Mexico) and she always tells me all these horror stories and then she still expects me to go.Screw that.I'll stay over here where at least I know when and where the bad places are to stay away from.

SANTO DOMINGO (AP) - Dominican prospect Angel Villalona was released to bail in the murder case is known in the city of La Romana, told the Associated Press that the prosecutor knows the case.

"We opposed all along to that extent, but the judge accepted the decision of the deceased's family to withdraw the charge," said prosecutor Jose Antonio Polanco in a telephone interview with The Associated Press.

According to Polanco, the investigating judge Rodolfo Frias changed the sentence of preventive detention for two months that weighed against Villalona, the main accused in the death of Mario Felix de Jesus weathervane in a bar in La Romana on 18 September.

"I confirm that Villalona was released Friday by the decision of the relatives of the deceased to withdraw the indictment, but this is a case of public policy and we intend to continue to the end with this accusation," said Polanco.

Villalona could face up to 20 years in prison if convicted of the crime he is accused.

Polanco did not specify either the amount set for bail Villalona nor the date of commencement of the trial, "but we will soon begin the process."

According to a publication of the Dominican newspaper Diario Libre in its online edition on Sunday, the citizens of La Romana has stated that "since the family sold their dead."

Villalona was signed by the San Francisco Giants at 16 years old when he received a bonus of $ 2.1 million. Last season he batted .267, with nine homers and 42 RBIs in 74 games at Class A Advanced.
