Milo's actually has some stuff about him on the back. All the others merely say astros on the back.

That's because he can't pass up an opportunity to toot his own horn. He probably said he wouldn't sign them unless the said Hall of Fame on them somewhere.

I can't stand that guy.

Don't say that too loudly in Houston. You'll get lynched.

Whatever, anyone who likes him has never met him and never listened to a game on the radio. He is AWFUL as a play by play guy. He may have been good 20 years ago but he stumbles over every word and has absolutely NO excitement in his voice when something exciting happens. I have met him twice and both times he was an arrogant *****. Both encounters were less than 5 minutes and he managed to mention he was in the HOF BOTH TIMES!

The collection has really taken off since last time you posted it. I always enjoy seeing the collections of other NL Central teams. Good luck on getting to 300!

I've got another ten card trade in the works, so it might not be too long before 300. After that it starts to get tough. A lot of guys live in the DR and don't sign TTM. These guys didn't play enough games to have a lot of autos already out there.

Yep, that's right about where I hit a roadblock as well. I'm 2 or 3 away from 350 Pirate autos, but it has taken me about 6 months from when I hit 300. Once you get through most of the current roster and those that are good TTM signers, it gets tough.

I actually don't disagree. I'm not a fan of his modern commentary. He was good back in the day but should have retired yonks ago. He drives me crazy when he's on the radio because he'll be like "The score is 5-4" but never says which team has the lead. He also does things like, "LINE DRIVE! OH MAN THAT BALL WAS CRUSHED! So let me tell you about blahblahblah. And after that pop fly to first Berkman comes up." So which was it? A line drive or a pop fly?

I'll admit that his play by play sucks but I have to say he was nice as hell every time I met him.Never mentioned a thing about the Hall and I had to ask him to put it on my ball.He was really down to earth and was cracking jokes and whatnot.I think Saccomano, Hampton and Bagwell were there as well and Bags and Hampton wanted starbucks and Saccamano just sat in his seat as the two vets go off to get their coffee and Milo said"I guess the rook doesn't know he has to pay." or something like that and I thought it was pretty funny. In any case...he wasn't too bad!

I'm sure he was good back in the day. He must have been to get as much love as he does, but he is TERRIBLE now. If I can't watch the game and I'm forced to listen on the radio I get VERY frustrated with him. He'll go off on a tangent and when he gets back to the game someone will get out or get on base and he never even mentioned it.

I'm sure he has to be a nicer guy than my encounters with him or people wouldn't like him. He is almost as bad as Joe Morgan when it comes to mentioning being in the HOF though. He probably tones it down when there are other baseball people around. The times I met him were random encounters away from baseball.

To go off on a tangent about controversial opinions, how about this one:

Craig Biggio is overrated.

Uhh...a couple of years before his last season I would have fought to the death over that statement. Now and for the last two years he played...I would agree wholly with it.

But one thing you have to realize is the astros have had some decent players over the years but nobody like Bagwell or Biggio. They are like Gods here in Houston.Everybody knows about them.Even people that don't know a lick about any sports. They are like royalty around here.Even Nolan and Scott don't come close although I guess Ryan is just considered a Texas type thing and Scott just doesn't get as much love.I seriously suspect that Berkman and Pence are the new guys and Roy will be there as well when we are talking about who the main men are here in Houston 10 or 15 years down the road.

Well...I wouldn't brag about being a HOF broadcaster.Sure it means you were good at your job but that would be like me bragging about being a HOF plumber.Care much?Didn't think so.

In any case I like Milo for what he is and that's why I even wanted his autograph. But I leave it at that.I even got Patti Smith to sign my astros team helmet I am doing.Buy she is a hottie!!!!

Indeed. It is really based on his last few years. I realize he was a damned good player but he did more harm than good at the end. We just paid him to eventually get to 3,000 hits.

I see him as the opposite of Bagwell. Bagwell tried to play through an injury but hung it up when he realized it was over. He also deferred his own salary to free up money for other players to get signed. Just the epitome of a team player.

(And note that I don't HATE Biggio. I just think he did a lot of harm to the team at the end.)

I wonder if Bags could have gotten some sort of procedure to get his shoulder fixed?

As for Biggio...he was a damn good player but I am not a big fan of the man himself for whatever that's worth.
