I had no idea on this one. I noticed the other day that Albert Pujols recently collected his 400th double. Knowing that the all time doubles record is 792, I thought that 400 so soon in a career might put him pretty high on the list. I had no idea HOW high.

Here is the list of players with 400 or more doubles through their age 30 season:

Joe "Ducky" Medwick 453
Albert Pujols 400

Yep. In the 100+ years of baseball, only Albert Pujols and Joe Medwick reached 400 by the end of their age 30 season. Here is the list of the most doubles through the age 30 season: http://www.baseball-reference.com/play- ... reit/7FkwA

Hive, you'll be happy to know Robin Yount is third with 380.

Very cool!

But hitting 400 2B's in your first 10 is not the same as hitting 400 2B's in your second 10. Which is what he will need to do to break the record. Try and find a list of players who have hit 400 2B's after 30 years old.

Ask and you shall receive: http://www.baseball-reference.com/play- ... reit/tsHau

This list is players who got 300 doubles from age 30 on (including their age 30 season). Some of the names, especially the last one, are pretty surprising.

The fact that Frank Thomas ended just 5 shy of 500 for a career always shocked me. A lot of his could've been doubles remained singles.

Did you know Bonds finished just 4 RBIs short of 2000? That must really burn him up.
