Topps doesn't print the cards. These could be coming from the printer.

Hence why I requested an official stance.

Hence some people were acting as if Clay is handing these out to back-door buyers.

For all we know... he could be.

It'd be nice to see Topps say that this is stolen property and they're going to prosecute all distributors to the fullest extent of the law.

I don't expect anything.

A few sellers have been unloading unnumbered low serial cards like these on ebay for awhile now. Was a nice run of Bowman chrome golds at one time.

I loved the Rene Tosoni Bowman Chrome saga. One member got all 5 of signed Reds and made some $ off them. Although it would be cool to own the entire run.

isn't buying stolen property a from of enabling?

I would NEVER buy this crap, and I am not sure why anyone here would.

I remember reading in some thread here that someone saw multiple ex-Topps employees unloading these in bulk at a show they attended.

Not sure how they would get them in bulk if they didn't steal them.

Even if they weren't stolen, the addition of unnumbered cards into the hobby of cards that are supposed to be serial numbered is definitely wrong. How can a card be considered "1 out of 199" if there are an extra 10, 50, 100, or more of them floating around?

That is why Topps stamps the number on a replacement when they replace what is sent in. They don't send them back to you un-numbered.

there baseball cards, chill

Baseball cards are serious business; serious business.

i know you are just joking around, but to many, yes Baseball cards are very serious business. To many people this is their lively hood. This is how they pay the rent/mortgage and put food on their tables for their kids. To others, cards are a way that they supplement their incomes and can afford some little extra things in life, that they would not be able to afford without selling cards. So yes, to many people Baseball cards are a very serious business.

I agree.

I take this hobby seriously, as well. However, I don't care for back-doored products. The consensus stands that they are not genuine, and a part of the print-run. In turn: Burn'em, eat'em, etc...don't care.

I understand those that are dependent on the economic aspect of our hobby; I understand the moral implications. Therefore, I respect the strong hate many have, for the people that sell these.

Oh exactly. How would you feel if you put say $1000 bucks into multiples of a card /199, with intent to sell them later, then later you see the market get slammed with a bunch of these unnumbered versions? I think every ca agree that they would be chocked and would be asking for answers from Topps.

I wonder what happened this time?

I have no idea (suspicions are backdoored/stolen) but i definitely don't believe these dealers that they are "replacements" from Topps. Pretty weird to get 11 replacements of a card numbered to 199.
