In the past couple of months, I've noticed an uptick in 2 things:

1). people trying to go around Paypal and try to pay with checks / money orders / cash
2). those same people underpaying for the items they have purchased

Just had it happen again to me on Saturday, where a guy sent me a $10 bill for an invoice that totalled $13. I'm not sure if it's just people not paying attention, or buyers hoping their sellers aren't paying attention, but it's really getting annoying to have to contact someone for such little $. Anyone else having this problem?

I've had a handful of #1's in the last couple months, but not anymore than in the past. Never had #2 happen to me. The opposite has happened; once I got a $20 bill in the mail from someone who won an item totaling $19.51.

I like when people pay with cash or money orders, more $ in my pocket instead of ebay's

It drives me nuts when sellers send f'd up invoices. If it happens with a must have card, just pay, leave a neg. when you receive the card and start a paypal dispute for the overcharge. Paypal wil refund overcharges.

I'm not having a problem with underpayments and really haven't noticed an uptick in cash/checks/MO's. And although I haven't noticed more of it, what I am constantly surprised at are the people with win/purchase card(s) and then ask for my address to mail non-electronic payments afterwards. I am okay with non-electronic payments and have been on eBay since 1998 and selling in general since 1987, so as long as it's US currency and doesn't bounce, I'll take it. But I have to wonder what kind of resistance these buyers run into with a Rich G. type of seller who gives no quarter with regards to Paypal as the only form of payment accepted.

I don't understand how #1 is any type of issue whatsoever. More $$ in your pocket, so I don't get why it would be any kind of problem. I think paypal(eBay ultimately) gets PLENTY of money from the transactions I make thru them, so I have no problem avoiding paypal.

I didn't say that #1 was an issue (I gladly welcome them), I just said that #1 is leading to more instances of #2 occurring.

I only get a few every couple of months, no issues so far and I hope the trend continues.

The big benefits with a cash or MO payment is no Paypal fee and zero risk of charge back. I subtly advertise I accept anything in my item description. I get the occasional non-paypal payment but these make up perhaps 2% of my transactions. I've never had anyone underpay this way. Usually I get the courtesy round up like getting $4.00 for $3.54 due. Two bounced checks out of a couple thousand since 1996 and the buyer covered one of them plus associated fees. I'm guessing many of the non-paypal buyers are not technically legal eBay bidders (not 18 years old) but their money spends as good as others.
